Format war a dead heat at Netflix
Retailers are on the front lines in the HD DVD vs. Blu-ray format war, and Netflix is seeing an even match between the two camps so far. According to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, the total number of HD media rentals there suggest this is more of a "skirmish" than a "war", with the customer demand for the formats amounting to about one percent of total rentals. We don't doubt that the total percentage of HD media is small, but we're a little skeptical about it being an even split between Blu-ray and HD DVD

Netflix: Demand for Blu-ray and HD DVD Evenly Split, But Tiny | High-Def Digest

Doesn't matter when Blu-Ray player sold more than HD-DVD. Since PS3 is add for more, mean more win for them and yet, most of them don't know PS3 can do that. lol

What Netflix failed to mention was the fact that the number of Blu-ray subscribers are declining at a rapid rate because Netflix isn't meeting the demands fast enough. People don't want to wait weeks or months just to get a Blu-ray disc. Yes, it's that bad.

I can vow this as I'm a member at a forum where many Blu-ray owners are. They are constantly complaining about how Netflix don't have enough movies in stock for rentals. They switched to Blockbuster and now are renting them in some stores where they are available or buying them instead.

BD is #1 on Blockbuster.

PowerON, you know that Apple support BD.

yes, I know that Apple is support but also part of board for BD. Probably won't see BD available for Apple computer somewhere next year. Maybe a surprise announcement on this Sept for Special Press. Who know?

That would be really cool to see a BD superdrive which can burn/read DVD, CD, BD discs in one drive but I'm sure it will be really expensive so next year might be more likely.

You can buy one for approximately $300 to $450 and yes, it will work on both Mac and PC. Pricey, I know but it is coming down fast. In fact, some of these Blu-ray Disc recording drives started out in the price range of $800 to $1,000 or more. Now it's already being sold in the $300-$400 price range.

So I wouldn't be surprised if it's even lower in a few months. The reason why they're getting so cheap is because the diode is getting cheaper. Last year, they were around $120 a pop, now it's around $8 a pop.

It can be possible, if Apple is include BD Combo (means not support BD, R and RW) on next-gen of iMac for same price then PC based computers (like Dell, HP) get owned again, ouch.

I means not new iMac "Santa Rosa" but just new iMac in next year or more.
