Hey Linux Lovers,

I'm using Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn and been messing around with it. I already installed Beryl and reconfigured it's desktop. Later, I decided to try out Virtual Machine program. I found VirtualBox. I downloaded and installed .deb file for Feisty Fawn. I ran it and it was a nice software. BUT.. I was unable to get my XP installed due to error message stating that I must log off...... I decided to Google search and FAQ in VirtualBox. Took me 15 min to find answer and all night at work pondering and researching thru SK2 webbrowser. I realized that I have to be ROOT user to use it. After work. I got home and ran Linuxbox and using Terminal. I simply typed "Sudo -s" , hit return then Password: then hit return. I logged in as a Root/Desktop.. I typed VirtualBox (Cap and spelling have to be exact in order to get program running in Terminal). I got it running and finally it let me instal XP. It was neato!! I took a snapshot. I'm sure that Some of you, Linux user have seen that before. If not then try VirtualBox software.

Good Luck

In Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04, Use Synapic Package Manager and Click "Find" and type "Beryl". They're in there. I've installed that and also DON'T FORGET to add "Beryl Manager" (A MUST HAVE!!!) which enable you to run taskbar icon look like Diamond shaped Ruby stone near the clock. Usually, Beryl Manager located in "Start-->System" in KDE or In Application in Gnome. ( I like KDE better than Gnome cuz more options)

As for the Skydome. YOU'll need to expand pix to 1024x1024 or 1260x1260 up to 1600x1600 (must be double numbered) in order to get Skydome background working. I learned it from other blog. YOu can see the skydome behind the cube on my pix.

I recommend Nvidia card cuz It works faster and smoother than ATI. I'm currently using ATI radeon 9000pro 128mb AGP. It works just fine but there are time that I put too much animation and transparency. It ran slow..

Neat...but what about Mac OS X? Anyone know?

AAh!! Ok I think It could run IF there a "open source" OS X like they did on Intel PCs. I checked Youtube and found few of them. One of them is cool. Check out Youtube. YouTube - Fast OS switching- Mac OS X, Windows XP and Linux

If you use VirtualMachine installed in Ubuntu Linux Feisty Fawn 7.04 for PowerPC. It could work.

If it can run Intel PCs, Then It'll run VirtualMachine if OS X installed in it.

That's my Guess. I wish I had copy of "open source" OS X..

Your guess is right, based on CPU's types that meet the OS's requirements.

Lol, me too for a open source of OS X! But there's some in the system, mostly batch scripts and other things basically. I didn't get enough chance to play around due to my ITS job at the school and for my businesses on the weekend SOMETIME. That's why I don't want the extra hours to play around after work. When I was teenager, I used to be for years, :type: but now I decided to do other hobbies instead which is more fun. But in good way, it's very useful for my computer's knowledges especially on security issues. :( But fun anyway. Sorry if this is off the topic.

THANKS FOR THE LINK! Vmwares is awesome program. I used them sometime and one I put is *Vmware server* at my work mainly for the internet filters in one of the dell servers based on Win 2k3 R2. That way I don't have to build other machine. Works great! Well, I better shut up this time and need to go bed. So good night and sleep tight to everyone in this thread! :)

I seen this before, but thanks! :)

I meant the OS X in Linux's, not the virtualbox above. Sorry, I wasn't made myself clear on the last post.

It's suppose to be illegal, violate of policy from Apple.

OS X is exclusive to Mac based computer and laptop, that's legal.

It's same with PearPC, that's illegal software.

Yeah they are nice, but it can gulp alot of memory. I dont complain about it. Bigger memory is better!

Maybe Apple is watching them carefully. No rip off! The profit goes to Apple!

PearPC's web site been running for years, it's supposed to be banned by now.

May I ask where did you get this information?

Thanks.

If I owned a PC, I wouldn't run PearPC because it's so slow. I would rather run Mac with Intel processor and run Windows because it's much faster and reliable.

The reason why Apple do not want OS X running on a PC is because they don't want to lose sales on Mac computers. They are only to run on the ROMs customized by Apple that prevents it to run on PC that don't have that kind of ROMs.

I installed one in old powerPC for fun, it ran pretty good which I over the limit the memory, mainly for dos games and few things. But now I prefer VMware Fusion Overview, Run Windows on Mac, Virtual PC on Mac - VMware, must have a Core 2 Duo or Xeon processor. Similar to parallels, but cost little more then Vmware's.

Right, they aren't stupid to lose their business like that. But Intel bases is now allowing windows to run on mac's machine like bootcamp for example.

Role of Mac and Windows are different, if you build own computer then you are legally to install windows on hard drive but Mac can't, unless built by company, also Linux looks much same as Windows, there's varies of Linux are free or require to pay, depends on version of OS, most of them are free except for users that favorite to order CD off from website. Apple has idea about run the windows on their Mac, that's your choice and pretty much same as install on built computers by own.

For information, it's oviously that PearPC is illegal, same as free media that downloaded without pay fees are illegal, plus Apple want to be exclusive for Mac users, not know if PearPC will be blocked by Leopard for sercuity reason. In anytime, PearPC can get sue by Apple, maybe not to do that or overlooked.

Yes, I been doing that for years. Right, Linux are free most of the time. But The school paid me to get a redhat server for the school where I work as ITS. Last year, I replaced it into M$ Win 2k3 R2 server. *Sorry if this is off the point.*, just little comment about the pay the Linux software.

I don't see any illegal in that of PearPC since you didn't get a proof of direct link. But it'll be IF you sell it for your profit.

At first, remember about CherryOS.

I said there's no proof of link that's PearPC is illegal, it's obviously illegal and it will take an while for Apple to legal action against on maker that who created PearPC, I'm considered PearPC as illegal but you can use PearPC if you want too until their company or maker has to shut down.

I don't care if you think that PearPC isn't illegal, for right now.

I rather to get real Mac over run PearPC on Windows.

Remember, some of file sharing like eDonkey2000 was shut down due lawsuit on illegal software.

Yeah, true, it could happen anytime. I'm just saying it isn't right now. Ah, CherryOS, thanks for the flashback. It stopped few years ago.

Mac? Yeah, I prefer Mac too, so I don't have to do the repair more often then windows lol. Speaking of that, I'm going to install two mini macs today at my work then do some hard drives' cloning through the network. Woohoo, something new I can learn for cloning thur network on Mac! So wish me a luck. :)

Yeah, I remember there's a lot of firesharings banned. Been that way for years since the internet is released in public.

I gotta go now, thanks for some chatchit.
