CUMBRIA Deaf Association has been given a grant of £10,000 to fund its Balloon Project for a year.

The cash from the Co-operative Foundation will help deaf children to meet each others in the same situation. Peter Shaw, a senior manager at CDA, said: “The grant will secure the work of the project. The children and the deaf children and their families will be delighted to continue to meet their peers throughout Cumbria.”

On taking the job of project worker, Robyn Mowat said: “I want to see deaf children and their families have as many opportunities to meet and have fun together as well as having a go at new challenges.”

This is a wonderful project, and a step in the right direction.
