iPhone queston

We'll see what customers have to say about the iphones when they get their hands on them. I'm guessing they will have about roughly 100 on hand in stock each Apple store.

Trust me first time I use google map on EDGE and I thought it was fast enough to me later I try google map on EVDO and holy shit it's pretty faster.

Same idea you had sidekick for many years and you are very happy and internet speed was not big deal till you try EDGE on BB and you fall in love then switch BB because of EDGE.

Once you try EVDO then you will drool it over.

Are you using Verizon or Sprint?

again att does have HSDPA that runs same speed as EVDO. att is now upgrading the network to HSUPA. there are tens of million BB subscribers under at&t's edge network. they cant complain. they wants emails work, period. they dont care about the speed.

now back to subject - apple chose EDGE over 3G because they believe the battery on iPhone should last longer under EDGE network.

Well I got EVDO since last year. HSPDA was not come out that time.

BB dont need high speed for people who use email all times so perfect for them but iPhone have youtube, map google, and powerful browser tools so it should have best network speed.

Europe to get 3G iPhone from Vodafone, T-Mobile and Carphone Warehouse - Pocket-lint.co.uk

Just rumor why Europe got 3G iphone? I read news and internat at anywhere about too many people complained about iPhone's poor network speeding. Look like they don't care about wifi due short range and very limits location.

point taken, but per articles, apple chose EDGE over 3G. att didnt suggest apple people to change their minds. let wait and see what apple ll announce for europe's wireless carrier and see what type of connection would that be. i do hope they choose wisely. go 3G ! lol.

Apple iPhone vs Treo 700p

How long does it take to boot?
Our cold reset took 32.5 seconds from power on to the appearance of the home screen.

my treo 700p's reboot took me around 22 sec.

Does it only work with the SIM it came with, or can you insert your existing SIM?
You can insert your existing SIM, but you will still have to go through the iTunes activation process. Furthermore, you need to reactivate in iTunes every time you change SIMs -- if you put in a different SIM, you get an "Incorrect SIM" message.

That's pretty stricty.

How's speed over EDGE?
The jury's still out, but it totally depends on what you're doing. YouTube seems to be virtually unusable over EDGE at the moment, but Safari and Maps are pretty bearable. Mail's decent, too. Our speeds on dslreports.com are all over the map -- lowest is 64kbps so far.

Wish they could mention where location they're at to use.

What do you think of the on-screen keyboard?
In the vertical mode, it's a little tricky, but as several reviewers have reported we think we'll probably get used to it. In the horizontal mode -- which appears to be available only in Safari -- it's way easier to use. We'd say it's actually a pleasure.

obviously that would be disappointment for deaf to typing, gonna be quite time to competed message.

Can you download and save images in Safari?
No, it doesn't appear so.

wtf? my treo's browser allow me save image.

How prone to fingerprints is it?
With the exception of the Apple logo, the back and sides have a matte finish that make them impervious to fingerprints. The front is literally a pane of polished glass and it exhibits the same properties -- oils and fingerprints are basically invisible when the screen's on, but they show up when off (and in the black zones above and below the screen). The included polishing cloth is definitely going to see some use.

that gonna be lot of germ in there, please don't touch anyone's iPhone. Would have to clean before hand their iPhone :)

What does the touchscreen feel like?
For lack of a better description, it simply feels like a pane of glass (as we commented above). Perfectly smooth with no give whatsoever. For anyone used to Palm or Windows Mobile touchscreen devices, this is a completely different experience. Notice that you cannot use a stylus with the iPhone, so the resolution of interactivity is lower to accommodate the fact that fingers are fatter than styli.

I don't know.. I recently test rub on glass from windows compare to my treo. I hardly tell different but my treo does feel bit soft while glass is hard.

Is there a reset button?
No. The phone is reset by holding down the home and sleep / wake buttons for several seconds.

I don't know if that would be good idea if struck in pocket? my treo have shell to cover. and use style to reset two different way. short for regular reset and long for reformat back to standard

Can Chinese characters be viewed in Safari? What about Chinese character input?
Chinese works like a champ when viewing websites, but we haven't found any way to input it.

nice! but my treo cannot.

How are the camera and camera app?
We'll have more on this subject, but so far it seems the cam may be one of the least impressive aspects of the device. Picture quality is less than stellar, the viewfinder operates at no better than 8 or 10fps, and there are literally no options for scene, white balance, and so on.

sound like sweet but what about camcorder mode? that's bite.

Does it support modem tethering via Bluetooth?
Nope! Nor by any other means, for that matter.

my treo do, but I prefer USB plug.

iPhone vs. SK3

How long does it take to boot?
Our cold reset took 32.5 seconds from power on to the appearance of the home screen.
Oh, My SK3 took 25 seconds to go into main menu.

No shit, I can download MP3 format from Limewire for free or download from music website.

Oh, SK3 is full of shit, EDGE is real BS for Tmobile.

What do you think of the on-screen keyboard?

Keyboard on screen, that's new to me but I take hard keyboard for right now.

Can you download and save images in Safari?
No, it doesn't appear so.
Really? My SK3 can't that too.

How prone to fingerprints is it?

No idea cuz SK3 can't support touchscreen then you are lucky again.

Is there a reset button?
No. The phone is reset by holding down the home and sleep / wake buttons for several seconds.
Oh, there's reset button on SK3 after hit at twice, once is shutdown.
