I came across Vialta videophone at Best Buy while looking for replacment Cordless phone. . It sells for $120.00 I took a look at the box to see what networking it use. It only use STANDARD phone line, no need Broadband or DSL. It is almost like Sorenson.

I found out it's configuration online
Beamer TV Video Phone

System Specifications
Beamer TV is designed to add live, color motion video to phone calls using any home phone and television (with RCA video jack), over any home (analog) phone line. The quality of the video connection is dependent on the quality of your phone line connection, just as the audio quality is dependent on the phone line connection when Beamer TV is not in use.

System:
Fully ITU-T standard H.324 compliant

Video Input:
Built-in CMOS camera

Video Output:
Composite Video (RCA)

Audio Input/Output:
Telephone handset or speakerphone

Dimensions:
1.5" (H) x 7.6" (W) x 6.0" (D)

Frames per second:
From 4 to 15 fps :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd:

Power:
Operating Voltage (AC Adapter) 100-240 VAC, 50/60Hz Universal switching power supply

Network Interface:
GSTN (RJ11)
Modem
Transmission speed - max 33.6Kbps :barf:
NTSC - format television connection

Compatibility:
Beamer TV is fully compatible with Beamer and similar H.324 compliant devices

Those are not a good one because it can go from 4 to 15 fps (frame per seconds) Comparing to Sorenson and any other Broadband vp that can do 20 to 25fps (maximum 30fps) which make video very smooth and almost TV like.

I was surprised that they're selling at Best Buy. I bet Hearing people are getting jealous of Deafie being head of technology LOL.

Check this out !

This device wouldn't be able to connect to other VP's (D-Link, VP, or other videophone that uses the internet). It would only be able to call other video phones that are using a phone line -- maybe the Ojo when on a phone line, but no guarantees there.

This is as useless as a 100-lb penny. If no one else has a beamer TV phone, you can't call your friends or even VRS. At least with a VP, you can dial any other internet video device -- webcam, VRS, or other internet VP.

Yup the phone line CANNOT connect to broadband. I always knew it's a worthless 100lbs penny too. I laughed about it because hearing people are trying to catch up with deafie. They will realized it's a big waste of money after they realized that Beamer TV cannot connect to Sorenson VP or Dlink vp. It can be connected to Netmeeting IF they dial directly w/ phone line connection. In fact is that it's a little complicated to get it connected. Remmy BeamerTV have 36.6kpbs modem. I've tried to use Netmeeting and modem to call my sister on her pc via phoneline. Her netmeeting did picked up and connected. But it didn't get the video. It was back then in 1997 when she got first Connectix Parallel port webcam. My parent still have them but it's very old. It works fine and had smooth video w/ proper config.

So I assume right now Netmeeting can get connect w/ phoneline to BeamerTV. It MAY be hassle to configure. Modem is picky cuz it'll hangs up if there's voice in the line.

Say it's too bad for hearing for not being able connect w/ deafie unless they have $$$'s to buy Dlink vp.

I just found that Vailta.com finally have Broadband Beemer TV. I do not know if it would work with VP100 and VP200. It have sensor that run up to 30fps same as Sorenson VP. IF anyone had one, maybe one can share their opinion on that. Cost $109. I do not know if Best Buy sell Broadband Beemer TV. It would be good idea for ur parents or relative to get in touch with you on VP. Not sure if there is Gateway and IP address (similiar to Sorenson VP) and use DMZ. I would look through Online instruction manual if available.

Yes they do have setting Almost similiar to Sorenson VP. Got IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS. IT did not show Public IP address setting. From what I see Online manual is showing IP address showing as Public IP address not the exactly same as Sorenson's (Sorenson have separate IP Address like IP Address and Public IP address) It big advantage is that it can use PC monitor!! Wish Sorenson VP had that. Here is the website!
BroadBand Beamer Videophone

I CANNOT guarantee it'll work with Sorenson. To Computer Nerd or TechniFreak Find out if store can accept refund. If Yes, then YOu can experiment it and see if it works with Sorenson. If it does, Please post reply!! We would like to know!
Thanks!

I emailed support and asking them about the H232 protocol and they said it should work ie DVC-1000 but they have not test it yet.

Since Sorenson VP uses H232 procotol there a good chance that the ipbeamer will connect and work with Sorenson or DVC-1000 or Netmeeting.

I am sure someone will be trying it out soon and post result here. Maybe Ill check if my local store got one and if it does then Ill give it a try since I can always return it back for a refund if it doesn't work.

What stores that would have that one? Best Buy, Fry's Electronics?

If this one will connect with Sorenson, I would probably buy one for my grandmother so she could get to see her favourite grandchild on video.

The poster whom started this post stated they saw it at Best Buy.

If you managed to find one and let us know if it worked or not. I am sure Best Buy will have no problem taking it back for a refund if it didn't work.

I saw the Beemer TV at Best Buy, It's just for telephone connection only. I DO NOT see IP Beamer TV (Broadband only). So you'll have to order Online. BroadBand Beamer Videophone

Look abouve the banner, you'll see "shopping cart". This is where you can order it. BE SURE you contact Customer Service first before purchasing.

Thanks

Be sure that ur family, relative, or friends have correct router that works with H232 generally. Dlink, Belkin, Linksys and few router. You might want to look up VP100 or VP200 router compatibilty so it won't be hassle for them to get it working.

Price is pretty reasonable if it works out then it'll be great for hearing family members to buy
