Hey folks, what is the difference between an OEM vista and Full Boxed (sorry for my bad English) version Vista ? I want to buy an OEM version of Vista home premium 32bits but I don't know if I may licence my old computer with a new OEM version of Vista? Is this possible or do I have to buy a more expensive boxed one ? :pissed:

OEM mean original equipment manufacturer.

This OEM software is intended for system builders only. I am not sure about Vista yet but work great for XP OEM on old computer(s).

Retail - You can change motherboard "new PC" as much as you want.. Included add or upgrade components (peripherals).

OEM - You installed once and it will be always required SAME motherboard that cannot be transfer to new motherboard "new PC" but you can upgrade or add components (peripherals) as much as you want.

Hope that helps! :)

From a practical point of view, there is no real difference between OEM and Retail. Considering I'm tech-savvy, I'd go with OEM.

The main difference is the product support and guide. The OEM version has none of that.

As for replacing motherboards, it's easy to tell them that your motherboard went dead and they'll give you a new key.
