Food Canning

Reading this thread made me miss my material grandmother more... :( She canned and preserved anything grown in her vegetable and fruit gardens for many years! I don't believe she has been doing much in the last several years, due to her declining health.

I agree with you canned not good for your healthy! I only eat sliced peach, bean pinto and green bean that's all! Watch out too soduim and salt and sweet! depend canned.... Most time I dont like it.

Do homemade canned is okay, not buy canned from shop because they add soduim in canned fruits, vegetables, etc...

ghsh1996,

Do you have preserve sugar for jam/jellies making?

If yes, important to buy the special sugar for preserve fruits into jam or jellies.

I hope this link will helps...

National Center for Home Food Preservation | How Do I? Jam and Jelly

I can add my recipe of jams/jellies making but the grams/cups of sugars are too different between Germany and America.

Example:

3 kg strawberries
1 small cup 100% pure lemon
1 cup water
500 g preserve sugar (3 plus in 500g sugar).

Chop stawberries into 4 halves.
Add stawberries in large saucepan and add preserve sugar and leave them overnight until the sugar get stawberries into juice.... then add lemon and water and cook... until heat and, stirring constantly, bring quickly to a full boil with bubbles for 5 minutes... then pour them into hot and clean jars and close it with lid straight way...

It's same with any fruits
but with jellies... Did you have Steamer for jellies maker?

Hi Liebling, :ty:

Wow it is so long time to not post this. I understand that you were so busy. I forget about canning. No I don't have preserve sugar and I don't have Steamer. Do you use Pressure Canner?
