That could explain why there were rumors of MGS4 coming to Xbox360 as well...

Hideo Kojima recently said that "Blu-Ray is too small for Metal Gear Solid 4."

The current spec of Blu-Ray is only 25 GB, and he wants
the newer spec 50 GB Blu-Ray for MGS4. (Not a Dual Layer 25 GB Blu-Ray,
but the single layer 50 GB Blu-Ray)


While Hideo Kojima doesn't necesarily care much about
HD, he says there's a lot you can do with sound that would fill up a
Blu-Ray disc really quickly. On top of everything else in the game this
apparently makes the game go way past the 25 GB limit. And Kojima said
that he wants to use the new higher spec 50 GB Blu-Ray for MGS4.


This was reported on a podcast for 1 up yesterday. You
can search for it on iTunes. It's called "1 up yours" but it's an hour
long. I recorded that part of the pod cast though if anyone wants to
listen.

Whoa. Already a game that exceeds the single-layer 25GB Blu-Ray disc?

Well, It would work out soon.

PS3 support up to 50GB, of course but doubt about MGS4 will port to 360 because Sony paid it for exclusive and not sure about how long or never.

there are two current BD discs which is 25GB and 50GB. Why are you worrying? for the last time MGS 4 is not coming to 360 for the first year. They want 50GB? wooot, a longest storyline, actions, and i dont know what else..

I know. I was trying to be sarcastic, since people keep asking or assuming that MGS4 will be on 360. MGS4 is coming to PS3 first and it is an exclusive as of now, and pretty likely will stay exclusive. With Kojima wanting the 50 gig BD disc. That'd be 2-3 360 discs, if it can be done on the 369.

I don't think I v ever heard or read anywhere that Sony paid for exclusivity on MGS4. I must have missed that. I know Sony bought exclusivity rights to GTA for PS2, but that did not last.

Actually, I imagine it can be reduced to just 2 discs once they convert the audio. I imagine the large size is due to the uncompressed audio, or the lossless compression.

As Dr strangelove said, he never heard anywhere that Sony paid Konami to keep the game exclusive on PS3. Well either have I. and if there's a link on that, please spare us from saying that it's not Sony's game it is Konami's game and they can port the game anywhere they want. Why, even Konami kept the Rumble Roses game exclusive on the PS2 for awhile 'til Xbox360 came, Konami upgraded Rumble Roses XX on Xbox360.

So...dont be too surprised if MGS4 actually makes the port then. Of course it wouldnt come the first year when MGS4 is on the PS3. Of course it will be on PS3 but you never know how long.

PS3 have been losing alot of exclusives lately. Assassin's Creed, Virtual Fighter 5, and few other PS3 games are porting to Xbox360.

Many as Resident Evil 5, Guitar Hero II, Okami, God Hand, Oblivion, Armored Core 4, and so on are coming to Xbox360.

So, really...does exclusitiy matter? I would say no since if Resistance : Fall of Man is exclusive to PS3, then good! but at least Gears of War is as good. If Gears of War ports to the PS3, would that bother me? not really. as long as it is a great game indeed.

Most game developers dont give a crap bout exclusive titles these days since they want to build a much larger audience. not build a bigger fan base.

Virtual Fighter 5 will be exclusive for PS3 until August 2007 but just checked on release date and would release on Feb 2007 for PS3.

For MGS4 then check out on PS forum or google it, also its was from last year, around early 2006 that Sony signed contract for MGS4 to be exclusive on PS3 and not know about how is long or never release. I know that its your wish to port MGS4 to Xbox 360, same with rumors but would be short on storyline due limited on DVD.

There's plenty of exclusive games for PS3, Wii and 360.

GoW cannot port to PS3 because it was from MS.
 
My wish is not for MGS4 on the 360. I want it on the PS3, the trailers already are jaw-dropping. I did about 3 seconds of "Google work" and found this link, and it seems you are right... for now.

While Kojima says that MGS4 is only scheduled for PS3, the article also shows the possiblity of MGS4 on 360, when Kojima is quoted as saying the 360 is very accesible from a developer standpoint. Keep in mind this article is old and quite dated, as the Nintendo Wii is referred to as "Revolution".
For now, MGS4 is only on PS3. I am pretty sure Sony is doing what they can to make sure MGS4 is PS3-exclusive until at least 6-12 months after its release on PS3.

It was for Steel that who make wish to port MGS4 on 360.
 
I would like MGS on 360, but I don't specifically want MGS4. I want something different, something centered around the Live Multiplayer aspect, because it could be a pretty good game. MGS3 Subsitence had online multiplayer, so it could happen. I have been playing R6V and in the game, there are times when I am the last man standing in a THunt(Terrorist Hunt), I feel sort of like Solid Snake, because Snake goes at it alone and pretty much beats all odds. DefMatrixense watched me beat the last 9 terrorists in a Kill House THunt mission. That was a Solid Snake expereince.
Anything can happen these days, and it seems smarter for companies to branch out their games to different consoles. Remember the rumors about Microsoft looking to buy Capcom? Sure Micro$oft could easily buy Capcom, but it seems Capcom resisted, so their games would still reach multiple platforms.

GoW is published by MS then can't port to PS3 since MS was joined with their team.

uh dude...while it is true that the game is owned by Epic games than MS, but Epic games developed the game. MS published the game and if any first party companies published the game, OF COURSE it will be only exclusive on a certain console. For example, Lionhead studios developed Fable on Xbox and MS published it so of course if MS published any games, its an exclusive only. Same for Sony and Nintendo. If Sony published Kill Zone, its exclusive. If Nintendo published Eternal Darkness, its exclusive even thou Silicon Knights developed it.

So, I have to agree with Pacman that if any games published by first party company, WILL NOT and I repeat, WILL NOT be going to other consoles unless otherwise that MS is dead or something.

oh and by the way...stop stealing pictures from consolecity.com :roll:
