Show me how to set website videotape?

I think he want to save videos on his website. For everyone can see his videos. Is that right? DVD is not videotape. Videotape is VHS. DVD is disc.

Videotape sign

DVD is not videotape. Videotape is VHS. DVD is disc.
In ASL, "video" and "videotape" are the same sign. My signing friends almost always sign "video" but voice "videotape". I reply, "tape? tape? where's the tape?" "Ok videoclip! You know what I mean." :p

That is what I figure also.

I have been converting lots of old VHS tapes to put them on my website (and some 8mm films also). There are several devices for this. I think the question is that he has a DVD recorder. He can play the video tapes and use the DVD recorder to record them on a DVD. Then, put the DVD into a computer and copy the videos onto the hard disk. This should work. But the question will be acquiring the software that can convert the DVD format video into something like MPEG, or AVI or WMV or MOV that we use on the internet.

I have software that does that. It came with the "video capture device". There are many of these things on the market. I paid around $140 for mine and it came with the software. For most videos I go straight from the VHS tape (or 8mm movie) to MPEG. The resolution of video tape is not that great so MPEG 720 x 480 or even 480x480 will be fine. When I convert old 8mm movies, I usually do them in 320x240 mode because the 8mm films are so degraded that the quality is already stinking bad.

Anyway, what the gentleman is asking can be done and it actually is easy. Well, it is easy the 5th or 6th time you do it. The first time you do it you will probably want to rip some hair out.

Oh... one more thing... how fast is your computer. You do not need the 'fastest' computer out there, but if it is more than 5 years old, you will probably not have success.

Hey, it's nice to see other people in Florida. Alan, you're in Palm Beach County, huh? I'm in Daytona.

Anyway, I reencode videos all the time, and my computer is circa 1998. It only encodes at about 2 fps, but my videos are usually less than two minutes in length, for my ASL VLogs.

You think I'm stupid, huh? Don't said that! You think I'm rude. I don't rude ok. So, right now.

I have videotape camera, I have copy DVC tape (that is the name of tape). But I don't have DVD videotape camera, because it too expensive. I wish that I will get one. But, I bought a new DVC videotape camera and also digital too. :D

I try to set up copy DVD my connect to DVD record as I can do it. I will get DVD and copy DVD R too. That how what I will plan for that. :D

I hope you understand. Stop think if I live in Country ok.

First I'm sorry if I seemed rude earlier.

Second, thankyou for the extra information. :)

You have a digital video camera that records to tape ( yeah confusing isn't it! it's digital, but uses tape, tape is usually analogue. :) )
Anyway, you need to get that on to your computer and on to a DVD that can play in a DVD player on your TV. Your camera should have a firewire port on it. (it could be labled "firewire" "iLink" or "IEEE 1394")

If your computer has firewire, and your video camera has firewire, then you can get video on your computer by just connecting them with a firewire cable,
However, you can't just put that video on a DVD, it's not the right format.

You can convert the DV format video to MPEG2(for DVD) with software like TMPGEnc (it's free) VideoHelp.com - Tools - TMPGEnc
and then burn the mpeg2 videos to DVD with a program like Nero. That will be the least expencive, but more difficult.

The easy way is to buy one of these
ADS Pyro AV Link with Premiere Elements API-555 at TigerDirect.com
You connect your video camera to the box, and the box to your computer via firewire, and it converts the video from DV to MPEG2 and comes with software that will help you edit your movies.

I hope this helps, please ask if you have questions.
