That is good to hear, but FYI, you can't have both port forwarding and DMZ on at the same time. It is likely that you finally set DMZ correctly. If you turned DMZ on at that IP address of your VP (NOT public address) then that port forwarding setting is automatically disabled.

I found out the hard way. I orignally thought it has to do with IP address being confused with two or more VP using same Public IP address. What I found out is that no router can have same port forwarding setting on more than one NAT address. So the point is... if you have other device that needs port forwarding. You will then need to disable DMZ, and set the port forward for VP and other device as long as they have different port ID.

The idea of DMZ is to forward every possible port to specific NAT IP address that you set, instead of put several port forwarding setting which takes alot time.

I got my Adelphia High Speed Today. And I set up VP-200 with that and Router too. Everything worked fine with recieve calls/sending Calls.

Do you know how turn off Sound on VP-200?
 
There should be a feature on VP-200 that turns off the sound. Same thing turn off video too.

I have found the information. You notice the bottom of the remote control, there is button says "no calls" on the left side of that button, there is icon looks like microphone, that is to turn on or off speaker, the button on the right side of that "No call" button, which looks like camera. That is to turn off or block somebody from view your video.
Get it?

I know this sound strange... But I am not sure if this is common problems with almost everyone... Let me explain. Everything worked. I am able recieve Calls and sending Calls everything went fine. But except with VideoSign I am not able to see VideoSign User I can make a call to VideoSign User but VideoSign can't make Call to me. When I make a Call to VideoSign User and all I see is black Screen. But with Phone number calls it don't have Black screen. Sound like something conflict with IP number only. I have try use it with Switch router and it collison my internet..

ISP- Adelphia
Router- DI-624 (DCHP ENABLE)
Videophone- VP-200

That link have nothing to do with Videosign. Videosign is used for and by VRS itself. When a hearing person tried to call you and you weren't there to answer and *IF* you have set your VP-100/200 to activate the videosign feature and set up your e mail address on the set up dialog box. Then the VRS operator will sign the message then send you that video message via e mail. You need to open that though one of your e mail application and open it using one of the video player of your choice, for example "Realplayer" by mediaone.

THe idea of videosign is much similiar to an answering machine. I do not believe that videosign feature would work on point to point call, like deaf to deaf. It only works by a relay service operator. But I will find out and return to let ya all know.

OIC what you mean. I understand now what's VideoSign mean. Yea I had experience with it. Yes indeed, that is like an answering machine that I received thru e-mail. I'm trying to figure what BartSimpsx24x talking about.

Yes it's true .. it won't work for Point to Point. It would be nice to have that also as well.
 
Yea, I am not 100% sure exactly what he meant but from what he said seems to be what I am thinking he means. I could even help better via VP, but it is totally up to anyone who wants to contact me via VP.

Hi...First time posting here...

I have a problem...I am trying to connect a vp200 to a linksys wireless router (wrt54g) with no luck. Sorenson came out and put their sr-200 in and couldn't figure out how to make the wireless work with the vrs. I have been looking everywhere for some ideas on how to fix the problem but have not found anything. Do you guys know how to have the wrt54g (wireless router) work with vp200 without the sr-200? Or maybe use the sr-200 and have the wireless router connect to it and have wireless internet? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.:ty:
 
How do you connect between vp-200 and wireless router? Just by cable or what?

Also, you can NOT run 2 or more routers on same public IP (WAN). If you want to connect your vp via wireless, then you need a wireless adapter. The VP-200 itself do not have the wireless capacity to recieve the signals. You need something to recieve the signal to the VP.

The vp-200 is connected to the sr-200 router now by ethernet cable. I want to remove the sr-200 and replace it with the wireless router (vp-200 also connected by ethernet) so that I can have a laptop around the house with wireless internet connection. For some reason, when I set up the wireless router...the vp-200 cannot call out or receive calls (I get black screen and then no connection) unless I try it for 20 or more times then I will get connected. I want to be able to call once and connect to the other person one time without having to call 20-30 times in a row to connect. Sorenson said that the vp200 will not work with this wireless router, but it seems like it should because it connects eventually after trying it a bunch of times. They thought it was strange because they saw the same thing, but didn't know what to do. I was just wondering if someone here has had any luck with the wireless router and maybe can give me some ideas to try. I know that the vp-200 doesn't work wirelessly...it needs to be connected to the router by ethernet cable. I have dsl... Another friend of mine has the vp-200 and is connected to the same wireless router with no problems calling in and out. Only difference is she has cable modem, not dsl.
 
At this moment, I do not have the database to do research. I know some routers do NOT work with VP! The best bet you can do is either get Dlink wireless router, because Dlink to be one of router that is most compatible with VP. Other choice is to get another IP address from your ISP, and get switch to split the two public IP address, however this would require purchase of switch and monthly fee for additional IP address from ur ISP.

This is to remind that NOT all routers will work with VP! Linksys is the one who notoriously not friendly with VP, They were focused on netmeeting and other videostream, and don't give damn about Sorenson/Dlink VP.

The Linksys router you are talking about does not work with VP. There are two solutions to get wireless.

1. Get a D-Link wireless router (I have WBR-1310

2. If the Sorenson router has more than one port, use one port for the VP, and configure the Linksys router as a wireless access point, and plug it into one of the other ports on the Sorenson router. Then you will have a wireless access point, but a wired VP.
 
:ty: Hey, guys...thanks for your help. I decided to go ahead and return the linksys router and pick up the dlink one. So far it works great! Thanks for the help here. I wish we weren't stuck with only one brand of equipment that works with each other...too much of a monopoly! Oh well...I am happy about having vrs though...it's pretty awesome. Thanks again.
 
It has nothing to do with monopoly. First of all, there was a relationship between Sorenson media and Dlink, Dlink makes the VP for Sorenson media, and that Sorenson media provided video relay service (SorensonVRS), and other service that has to do with VP. Because of Dlink involvement, Dlink was able to develop routers that works well with VP. On other hand, Linksys used to be great with VP, that is UNTIL Cisco bought them out and decided to dedicate the development with NETmeeting and other videostream applications like these IM that is now using, VP happen to have different configuration from them and Cisco decided because of greater market with NETmeeting and other application and not want to deal with VP configuration. In fact, Sorenson actually tried to work with Cisco, but for some reason they refused to accomodate with VP requirements.


I wouldn't worry too much because technology will evolve anyway, and once the networking technology improves, these configuration requirement may become obsolete, UNLESS they (Sorenson) wants to improve the video quality/speed. If that happens, then we will be stuck with stupid requirement but will that happen? I doubt it.

FYI for those who have gamers like Xbox and have VP and is having trouble connecting Xbox online. With Dlink DI-604 router involved, I recommend ya all upgrade the router firmware. The latest firmware is June 2006, not sure the day, but you should be able to recongize on www.dllink.com website. :) I found out about this today, that firmware was intended to solve the port forward issues with Xbox and VP, understanding old firmware with DMZ enable, they would take over whole port and push out Xbox port requirement. But with newer firmware, DMZ would take over what is really needed leaving the rest for other devices.
 
Hey! My D-Link624 seem not working very good because it keeping disconnected. My Internet Adelphia worked fine. You have any idea why? Plus there any way it will work with Switch Router that Sorenson give me?

Make sure your VP IP address is set to match the DMZ ip address on router, for example your VP ip address as 192.168.0.125 and you need make sure the DMZ is set to 125.
If not sure, you can ALWAYS contact Sorenson Support.
