She talked about THIS scam. Has it been going on for a long time??? :confused: I mean if it's a scam, then why didn't FBI shut it (the website) down and get people who are responsible?

Of course there are many kind of scams. Some scammers have been busted.

btw - she's not really talking about this specific scam. there are many scams SIMILAR to this one. you gotta read between lines...

FBI busted some scammers who sold fake insurances to old people. So if the website is still up to scam more people, why doesn't FBI do something about it? Know what I am saying?

because there are too many of them. and it's probably not serious enough to warrant FBI's limited resource to chase after trivial stuff.

the better question is.... why aren't people smart enough to know it? I don't expect our cops to chase down every single criminal or do something about crimes. I expect citizens to do their fair share of their duty to fight against crimes.

That's what the victim was doing, to report a scam. FBI can catch them through the email address she got from them.

Hackers are not dumb as you think. They always create a fake email, proxy ip address, access someone's WIFI, etc.
 
Scammers is nothing new... I'm sure FBI has other priority to do.
