Illinois 2nd flattest state after Florida

:giggle: I read "fattest" and was trying to figure out why you would think farmers were fat - they grow healthy food and work hard! Flattest makes more sense!

Well, for one, I have a farmer friend, so this article made me think of him. He's been growing stuff on his farm for a long time. I've had some of it--tastes pretty darn good.

There are a several of those in Southern Illinois. Many of them are past Effingham, although there are probably a few between there and Champagin, and I remember seeing at least one on the Illini.

There are three farms, they grow corn and soy beans. You are right Mark, there in Southern Illinois near a very small town called Carmi. They have been in the family for a very long time.

I know where that's at. I grew up not far from there. I believe it's in Clay County, which is where I grew up.

Funny, my hubby just said that no one would know where that is. His father grew up there.

I grew up there for 16 years. I know it pretty well, even though I've lived in Chicago for nearly 14 years, getting around there is a whole lot easier than it is here.
 
I thought Iowa is more flatter than those. :hmm:

I prefer Florida by FAR over IL due to warmer climate, awesome redneck environment and better job growth.

I am in Centralia which he may have heard of. Carmi is east and slightly south of us. Just double checked it and google map shows it in White County. Which county you are in if in Centralia depends on where in town you are. Most is split between Marion and Clinton but we have expanded south far enough to also have some in Washington and Jefferson counties.

I always thought redneck was a slang term for poor people but I guess some people do not mind being called one.
