Excellence in journalism makes me happy

Good news maybe for Alaskans, well maybe. A lot of Alaskans support corrupt oil company tactics that buy legislators and our current governor. They are fellow Alaskans too. I think they will not be so happy to have the excellent online newspaper The Alaska Dispatch buyout the largest newspaper in the state and continue their excellent investigative journalism.
It gives me a small bit of hope. I love this place.

Another fun site for the factual minded. It is tough to beat scientists for spending money. In fact in one way or another we all pay for these brainiacs to have a blast snooping around under rocks and measuring everything they can find to measure. It nice to see it out there in readable form. There are lots of these sites and when it hits readable form for you and me it is really investigative journalism of the physical world around us.

i do have a question, though, are there drunk helicopter pilots there? LOL

Here is another favorite. This one has lots of international investigative news and up to date news on climate change, alternative energy, and the nuclear side of things including a whole lot about our friends the Russians. This is information you will probably not find anywhere else. Read em and weep. For real that country has mishandled its nuclear responsibilities so badly the civilized world has had to step in and help with large cash. The US is into it for 10 billion dollars. Lots of donor nations all lined up to help as well. Even while the Ukraine incident is unfolding.

The cleanup of their nuclear dumping ground in the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean will take a lot of resources. 2 dead nuclear subs, 19 ships containing nuclear waste, 14 nuclear reactors..4 with nuclear fuel still inside, 735 contaminated pieces of heavy equipment, and last but not least 17,000 canisters of radioactive waste.
