Guns in high demand as holiday gifts

You left out zombies annihilator.

AR-15 will shred up a paper target like nobody's business.

Pistols are good but don't provide enough protection in all circumstances.

Yes, that why my family recommended me to have rifle or shotgun, along with pistol.

The pistol is good for concealed carry.

I have an AR-15 and I do not use it for hunting ??? In fact, i don't need it at all, I just own one because it is my right to do so.
well, that's stupid, listen to yourself, like as if you reading someone's else post, imagine you say to yourself, that's a waste of money and time and useless demonstration of ego just to own a near-illegal gun just for hell of it..
it's pathetic

Hey, I think I have some good questions.

In order for you to buy a gun (as a birthday or Xmas gift) for someone else like your father, aunt, friend, boss or co-worker, what info are required for a background check? Yours or his/hers? Name, address, SSN, what else?
you give them your driver license and they run a check to see if you have a criminal background or not.

pretty much all states have laws and procedures on getting guns for someone as a gift but many people don't do that because that would means a legal headache with the feds.

and you're not allowed to buy a gun for someone who didn't pass the background check. that's illegal. it's called STRAW PURCHASE.

Do they have to have a gun permit first before receiving a gun as a gift?
in most states? no. just give them your driver license and you're good to go. in my state - we have 2 permits.... Firearm Purchase ID and Handgun Permit. we're required to get a handgun permit for every single time we want to buy a handgun - very stupid. and I can purchase long guns anytime and as many as I want as long as I have FID with me.

What about their family member or roommate who is mentally ill living in their house? Does the background check require that info as well?
probably but I doubt it.

No, it's not. Many people collect guns for the same reason people drop big money on cars...because they can. All guns are illegal if they're not on your state's "list" and approved by your Attorney General....

I still prefer to have the government ban all firearms, even if you have to use rifles for hunting but still there will be accidents happening in the woods. Having a firearms is not going to solve for the sake of protections for you and family. You might end up making mistakes on owning the firearms especially when there are children or other family member who might want to look for the firearms in your skelton closet or side table near your bed.

Ban all firearms and martial arts weapons.

near-illegal? it's nowhere close to illegal.... far far far from it. it's the media (along with Bradley Campaign and anti-gun nutbags) who purposely confused the public that these are "deadly" weapons and "nearly illegal". It's ridiculous.

if AR-15 is "near-illegal" gun.... then my shotgun and handgun are "near-illegal" too.... because they all shoot bullets and can "maim" people....

In our state, the gun permit is not required to buy pistols, shotgun, rifles, etc, but I think it is only required for automatic gun due to federal law.

Background check only required for purchasers, but they shouldn't give away to citizens who have felony record that disqualify from own the gun.

Last question, I don't think so but it is your responsible to keep gun locked and out of sight. The background check WILL NOT automatically show mental illness until you are involuntary commitment to hospital, especially schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and severe depression. There are millions of Americans suffer from depression and anxiety that usually treated via outpatient like primary doctor or psychiatrists so it doesn't disqualify their right to arm the firearm. My father suffered from depression and anxiety but he owns few pistols.

BTW, Jiro answered your question above.

I'm all for it, but that means no actor can play in a movie or profit off a film that uses martial arts or guns. No movie company can make a film to profit off guns either. Only actors will NRA cards should be a allowed to use a gun in a film. Producers against guns shouldn't be allowed to advertise in films overseas, especially if those films use marital arts or guns....and no audience should be allowed to see a film with a gun, even if it's Johnny Depp dressed as an Indian, unless they can produce an NRA card and prove they're mature enough to handle it, and no one should be allowed to buy their child toy soldiers or any toy like a gun or face a fine for every day they haven't taken classes to prove they understand the dangers of owning something like that....

The gun is part of our American culture and Steinhauer is southerner, so I am too, so gun rights are extremely fundamental rights in southern states and guns are very popular.

I was brainwashed by anti-gun rights and gun control organization when I was teen, but I denounced their claim and stand my traditional to support the gun rights. I thanked to my family and some AD members to help me understand about how importance is gun rights.

If you don't like it, so go to California or New York - they have strict gun laws and it will not prevent the school massacre, though. Most shooting massacre occurred when mental health in America lag behind and distressed patients with schizophrenia look for dangerous event like school shooting.

The guns are constitutionally protected and I believe it is popular among Native Indians population. There are car accidents that killed many people, much more than guns. I recommended parents to teach children to understand about guns are not toy and they are for protection, so need put in safety box and keep out of sight. If you want gun as decoration like hang up on wall, so just unload it and no one getting killed if guns are completely unload - no ammo.

I'm big fan of martial arts, especially UFC and it is good for your health and mentality.

So is it illegal to give someone a gun for Christmas?

In our state, all guns are legal unless they're on the short list of illegal guns. There are too many gun models to list every legal gun.

So is it illegal to give someone a gun for Christmas?

no. this is non-issue especially for family members.

I only said it can potentially be a legal headache if you give a gun to someone else (not a family member) because if that person killed someone else.... the gun will be traced back to you. that's why there's a transfer form that both of you will have to fill it out and submit to police. best to check with your state law regarding "giving" gun to someone else.

Suppose, if police finds out that someone you gave a gun to is not allowed to have it, they can take it away and you lose money on it. I don't think they will give it back to you since it's someone's property once you gave it to him/her.

That really hurt my feelings. Maybe I need to buy 2 or 3 more AR15's to inflate my bruised ego even more. Meanie!!!

You will outgrow his words.

It is stupid to own Mickey Mouse toys... :naughty:

*shrug*

hardly a concern for me because we obviously don't give away guns as gifts to some people. most people give guns as gifts to their kids or spouses.

Obviously you are mentally ill!

You are really funny and it is bad labeling, so having depression doesn't warrant as mental illness, except for chronic and severe cases, so he isn't one of them and it is normal to have feel hurt by someone.
