I like to share with you , I brought my rescue English Bulldog home Sat. Dec. 14th .

We had a long tiresome day, it was open house at the rescue and people with approved home visits were open for adoption. I already met , Pork Chop at the rescue walk. I fell in love with her! She's great! She's a 4 year old English Bulldog , house trained, healthy , spayed, and all her shots.

It felt wonderful to make it official paying adoption fees and sign the adoption papers. There were others who became adoptive parents to these bulldogs. I met a family that rescued a senior bulldog, lovely girl and lovable.
My bulldog is total sweetheart! She loves people and is ok around other dogs. She's learning and adjusting to her permanent home. This girl will keep me going for sure . So far , she's an angel and obeys at times. Bulldogs are stubborn.

All is good at the moment. I am keeping her name Pork Chop ( Porkie).
 
Congrats, Rio!...and love the name of "Pork Chops"....:giggle:I do call my little doggie "Ms Pork Chops" at times because she loves Pork Chops!....Calling ur doggie "Porkie"....she might take offense....:giggle:

And the myth that Bulldogs "slobber" a lot?...Dunno....
 
Just be careful! English Bulldogs faces are all messed up and most struggle to breathe. Keep that in mind while exercising and in temperature extremes!
 
Rio did you post a picture anywhere. Congrats on the new family member.

Wanted to first post my happiness for you!

Now, Eater was accurate about the Bulldog's issue with breathing - those cute snores are because the extreme breeding in the current Bulldog <earlier versions do not share the same features> has brought a host of issues which include respiratory, joint and reproductive difficulties.

Also, if you haven't already - research the pro's and cons of vaccines - they are not benign and you do not have to have them done each year.

That's cute...one of the pigs used on The Walking Dead was called "pork chop" too...and Andrew Lincoln, who plays the main character "Rick" really loved all of them. :)

They're wonderful dogs and really slugs....give them a warm blanket and a comfortable bed and they could stay there all day. Our neighbor had an English Bulldog too, he named him "Oliver." Congrats on the new addition...

And remember also to carefully watch him during hot weather. I remember reading a article of how a school, who had used the Bulldog as a mascot, left the dog outdoors during the summer heat too long and the poor thing didn't survive. Thankfully, they fired the jerk...and I think he was a Vet tech or Vet student. Unreal. Truth be told all dogs should be watched during the summer....if you don't like being out there, chances are neither do they.

Thank you everyone :) She's the best Christmas/ birthday gift a girl an an have. My neighbor has an English Bulldog she's 7 months old and they gave me the whole load down on these special dogs. I have been previously educated by my neighbor and reading the rescue's website filled with resources.

I am aware of their issues and concerns. I have to keep her cool in Summer time.
 
Congratz! I know you were doing those home visits and everything a little bit back... glad to see it worked out. :D

Yes it's but it not fair to give pets as a gift to someone without seeing if they want a dog , cat or bird. Pets end up on the streets and in the shelter this way . I had clients that where given birds as gift and the person really did not want a bird in the first place. The poor bird end up not being well cared for .

I already met her before going through adoption process.
