Well at this point, I am tempted, but I am worried about losing everything - really, I am after all computer illiterate.
At this point, I managed to catch two spyware jerks- mysearch and searchconduit, I shredded it with my free AVG antivirus and sheisse it helped,
btw- can AVG itself be a malaware carrier since I have a nagging suspicion it happened (mys.and condu.) with dowloading the latest update of AVG? ! arggh!!! ?

inadvertently downloaded Bing twice, can't get rid of it argggh this time,
and now I am afraid to do anything.

Any advice from which site I can download Adobe Flash safely?, please? b/c youtube stopped working altogether...

I am not sure if the AVG I have is that good. Here I have two hijack malawares and it says no threats detected.. hm. maybe there are not, maybe this is just annoying ad-ware only. but one never knows!

Thanks. I better ask someone who knows his way about the computers, then.. it's just that he just had a baby - a three weeks ago, so he is pretty busy, I guess. Well what can I do - have to wait, is all.

As for safely downloading Google Chrome, go to Google, and look in the upper right hand corner-- there should be something saying "Download Google Chrome", and click on that. After it's installed, your Adobe Flash Player should automatically update, as it's part of Google Chrome for several reasons, such as YouTube, and Convo Anywhere, to name a couple.

It's not that my laptop isn't insecure-- I have highly sensitive material on my laptop, and it protects that information from falling into the wrong hands, and I have it protected by the best there is, without paying a dime.

I had a friend who had Norton Security, and it infected her PC so badly it had to be junked. That's what led me to start using Microsoft Security Essentials, and ever since using it, I've never had a problem with malware or spyware, and I'd like to keep it that way.

As for my mobile devices, obviously they can't have that, so I use a combination of AVG and Lookout Security, and these two protect my phone and my tablet, and I have a peace of mind.

AVG for laptops might be crappy, but not for my mobile devices. AVG has alerted me to malware before, and I would trust it with my life. As for Norton, that's a security company you pay for monthly, and I'd rather not be doing that, because I don't need to be paying monthly for that.
 
kaspersky only does 1 month free trials for each version they release. I pay for Kaspersky and have been happy with it, been using it for years.

my sister had issues with AVG a few years ago, her computer ended up infected anyway. got rid of AVG, dunno if she kept using another free program or what.

AVG was rated before AVAST. go figure..
wait.. maybe it was after Kaspersky.. or Avast was after Kaspersky ...heavens help me...

No worries. It's easy to tell if you do or not. Look at the lower right hand of your screen. Check to see if you have a green icon with a flag on top of it. That would be Microsoft Security Essentials. If you don't see that, click on the link I gave you, and download it. It should clean up any problems you may have.
