Which is better refrigerator with top or botton freezer?

Our water comes from lakes Moultrie and Marion. It's OK. However, my daughter also has installed a full-house water purifier system (I can't remember the exact type).

Are those lakes man-made?

i have 2 freezers, a small chest freezer, which is like 10x bigger than what i have in the fridge/freezer
and the freezer is on top of fridge...
what i see is, i got best of both worlds, top means less back strain, quick and easy to find, better for organising the week's consumption
the chest freezer is excellent for longer-term storing of food

We have a bottom freezer drawer. It's not bad, but yes, it is hard for people with bad backs. I have my special diet things (vegan/gluten free) in the top basket with the ice tray and in the bottom that is divided in two, we have vegetables on one side and meat on the other. Frozen fruit is also on my shelf.

In addition, I also have a chest style deep freeze. That is full of my pre-cooked rice, quinoa, beans and homemade vegetable broth. 4 bags of ice for back-up and all the candles.

It depends on if your friend is handy or not. I don't see that as a negative statement.

My friend lives in another state. She had to buy a new refrigerator recently and it was fine for her to tell me about it. I told she was being double standard! And she would not be able to help me with moving a refrigerator and I can't move one away from the wall anymore. Thank you guys , this has been very helpful. I can buy a new refrigerator in New Hampshire and pay no sale taxes but the delivery fee is $60.00 and for $20 .00 more they'll take my old refrigerator. Or I can buy one and pay taxes and no delivery fee and pay $50 .00 to have my old refrigerator removed , or the people can put it on the sidewalk if my city will pick it up. I just had the city pick a couch for a $5 00 fee , I will have to see if I can use the city again in the same month and if they do take refrigerators . I would have to tied it up or have the door taken off so a kid can't climb inside it. I will have to see how the taxes would be if I buy it in my state.

Candles with scents, bad idea! Otherwise, frozen food/ice would taste like jasmine or something like that.

We get most appliances at R.C Willey. While they were writing up our order we decided to fill out cards for a drawing they were having. To our surprise we won and ended up getting our fridge/freezer for free $1600!!! Hubby had to go in and get his picture taken and they gave him a check for our total purchase amount. I NEVER EVER win anything so this was HUGE for us.

Our fridge looks like stainless steel but it is actually painted. Less finger prints and magnets stick.

That was lucky! I only won $69.00 when I brought lottery ticket. Big deal!
I know my electric company will sometime give you a new fridge if you recycle an old fridge that use a lot of power . Maybe I will call my electric company and see if are still doing this. $1,600 is a lot of money . I do not have a R.C Willey. I have to buy from a store the will deliver it to my house.

All candles are in double ziploc and non of the food tastes like the apple cinnamon, cranberry spice, or vanilla spice. We have kept candles in the freezer for years and never had a problem. Better than having Florida heat melt them.

I am done with the stainless steel. After it dies, i will buy black. Stainless steel will show you the bumps if you accidentli hit it. You can see it too obviously. Or cats hair stick on it. It needs to keep cleaning or you can see hand on it compare to colored one.

I have freezer bottom. its just a habit if i plan to buy the freezer bottom again.

Reba, that was really interesting. A lot of controversy and sadness......Thanks for digging this up.

That is good to know about stainless steel they cost more too and I bet a salesperson will try to get me to buy a stainless steel fridge . My city does not pick fridges , you have to bring them to the dump yourself.

I can't find an illustration of them but for a while they were making side by side ones where half of each section was full width and the other half narrow. The idea was to be able to put in large trays and other items that would not fit in a standard side by side without it being a vary, vary large one. I was very interested in the idea but could not afford to change from a working one just for that feature at the time.

Anybody know why this configuration seems to have disappeared?

stainles steel looks very nice. but i am more comfortable with black. the stainless steel i often accidently hit on the wall of the stainless steel and its bump it looks funny. I dont know about black but i dont remember noticing the black ones. ha

I think the French door configuration provides those options. If you look at the additional views for this one, you can see the inside set up. The shelf with the three sandwiches and the strawberry layer cake can be used instead for one large item, like a sheet cake.

I like the door-within-a-door feature. (Too bad this fridge is way beyond my needs.)

I when to check out some fridges at a local small store near me and they was going to show me some fridges on lines that I could buy . I told the woman for the money I am spending I want to see the fridge and touch it!
There is no way I am going to spend $800 or more and not see the fridge first.

I agree. I like to check out appliances in person. I do my initial research on line to narrow down my choices, compare prices and features, read reviews, and learn what's available in current models. Then I go look at them in the stores.

I did a quick look at others at the Lowes link your provided and it seems the French Door ones also mean the freezer is ALL at the bottom. Where with the varying width side by side part of each (freezer & refrigerator) is at eye level without bending.
