Oh, wow.. I think my GPU almost get bricked or fried during I was stress to boot up my desktop about 6 times. It won't shown Post and black screen. and then, finally boot up back to normal. I re-installed driver for GPU. if black screen again.. that's it, I'll switch to buy GeForce GTX 780 GPU. i addict to play Borderlands 2, L4D2 game with my friends.. Grr!

What software u use for uninstall driver GPU? I use Guru3D Driver Sweeper. I'll remove ATI driver to upgrade GeForce GTX driver.

Too hot, maybe?

If the computer still running with black screen, then it's too hot. It's pretty common issue I have seen in iRacing forum.

Guru3D is pretty much most people use to remove driver.

I read GPU temp. It was 50c to 60c. I just ordered Geforce GTX 780 already for unfinish built my second gaming PC.

1) If my current GPU died. I'll install GTX card for temporary

2) decode missing or fried.

Did you turned PC off right away after you quitted 3d game?

No, I noticed YouTube video turned green screen and my security camera had green screen, too. I uninstalled driver and then re-install driver. It's okay now. thanks

Glad you got it fixed. So, it's just a driver issue?

When I built my PC since March 2012.

1) no boot up. it was bad PSU, I almost RMA it back but, it was whine sound from fans almost stuck and then whine stopped as back to normal.. rolling
eyes

2) blue of screen death from RAM memory. solved probelm from safe mode

3) GPU's black/green of death screen. just re-install GPU driver

4) my netbook for emergency survival kit due to my desktop died. i pay bill onlines, email, security cameras and AD forum.. etc

Updated: black screen of death again, I found out too many old drivers as old patches has been stored in my GPU. I use Driver Sweeper removed all old drivers/patches. I re-install fresh driver update patch. no more black screen again.

I almost ready install my brand-new Geforce GTX 780 GPU on my current computer by friday but, I changed my mind. move to second computer.

I heard All Geforce GTX 780 GPU almost sold out everywhere. I'm lucky I got it.

For your problem, did you check PSU amperage is enough to handle your GPU? BSoD or reboot sometimes is culprit from bottleneck of PSU to hungry video card.

Yes, I mean black screen. I made mistake said BSoD.

The problem sound like it could be PSU problem though. I don't know what model PSU and GFX card you have now but for a GTX780 you need this minimum:

Newegg.com - EVGA 03G-P4-2781-KR GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card
Details
General
System Requirements - 600 watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 42 amps on the +12 volt rail.

Here is example 600w PSU that is not enough for GTX780 amps and will cause black screen after use awhile:
COOLMAX ZX Series ZX-600 600W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
Details
Spec
Output - +5V@25A, +3.3V@25A, +12V@40A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3A

Above is 600watts single rail PSU, but it only output 40amps. GTX780 requires minimum 42amps available on full load and you want extra 2-5amps for rest of your system, so minimum 45-50amp PSU.

Here is another 600watts PSU that is enough for full GTX780 system, should not cause black screen:

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

Details
Spec
Output - +3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V1@25A, +12V2@25A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2.5A

Above is dual rail, 12v1@25 + 12v2@25 = 50A - 42A from GTX780, -3A from high end system components = 5A free leftover.

Good 500w PSU will work in this case as long as Amps is over minimum:
FSP Group AURUM XILENSER 500W AU-500FLD ATX12 v2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Fanless Power Supply - Newegg.com

Details
Spec
Output - +3.3V@20A, +5V@20A, +12V1@22A, +12V2@22A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2.5A

For your current video card, you should check what amp draw it is rated and the amps available on your PSU. Over 1 year of use from PSU, subtract -1 or -2 amps due to age. It can be the reason you are getting black screen all of sudden when previous is fine.

PSU amperage not enough = it can cause black screen.

I didn't think you know about amps so I describe it for you.
