Found my Non- Turbo Beater

Well, tomorrow I may be bringing home a 1955 International. Deal is already in the works, if everything goes as planned she will have a new home. All original running and driving beast. My buddy who painted my other vehicles said he will paint it for me (free)

Funny I found this and just 7 miles from me.

That will be a great truck if restored.

Yep, My buddy already offered to paint it. I will keep it as is for now and finnish work on the house, later Id like to swap out the motor/trans/rear and add air conditioning. Which is a pretty simple and easy project.

I am asking my parents for a little hand at purchasing it, if not Ill bite the bullet.... just be a tight month for me.

Ah, like Uncle Jesse's truck... while I agree that Ford's inline 6 is more stronger and durable than V8 engine. The 300 CI inline 6 is bulletproof that it can't die. :)

Will the truck be daily use or a show truck? If you plan to use as a daily use, I suggest to keep I6 to save fuel with skyrocketing gas prices in future. V8 may be about same power as I6 produces but uses more fuel... remember inline engines have more torque for pulling power than V8.

Whichever you choose, hopefully it will be a good truck for you to use.

It would be both as it was with my ram... My buddy is a bodyman/painter and its all free ( just friendship is required...lol) Known him since we were kids, went to school together.

The Ford 300 CID engines are heavy duty, used for truck fleet like bakery, newspaper or UPS in 1970's. the crankshafts in the 300 cid blocks were made of heavy forged steel, 7 main journals (main bearings).

I had a straight 6 in my Camaro (1978) 250CI chevy... no matter what I did it ran like crap but it ran forever...lol

I like the chevy 350 as I know them inside and out, very cheap to build and parts. I have never had an issue with a chevy 350 block... now for someone who doesn't maintain them or abuses them, any motor will eventually fail.
I know peeps talk crap about Chevys, some dog the fords.... its all the same, cast iron/aluminum/alloys... bigger better and faster.... got to have a selling point somewhere, but I will take a Chevy motor any day over all the rest. If tuned properly its not bad on gas at all.

I had a '78 Pontiac Gran Prie (sp) with a Buick 6 (don't know anymore but would not be surprised if it was a V6) in it that had a repeated problem with cover gaskets leaking. Keep up with that and it seemed to be fine. I drove it for close to 20 years. Just everyday type of driving not looking for speed etc.
