Police Beating In Jasper, Texas

The police officer started pushed her and other police officer tried to handcuffed her so they dunk her head on desk - looks like she wasn't resisting on purpose.

Police officers have to hold her against wall instead or take on floor - opposite to hit on desk.

Police officer pulled her feet to cell - that's not normal.

That's excessive to me, though.

No doubt about it...she was resisting arrest...big time...and believe her verbal abuse was horrific (aimed at the officers)....As for the phone....feel sure the officer told her that her time was up...she ignored it and kept on talking,,then giving the officer verbal abuse.

Did you heard about what video saying? If not so how did you know if it was verbal abuse?

Two police officers got fired so it seems not matter anymore.

Deaf I am...so no, I didn't "hear" what the lady said...but it's clearly evident she was angry and spouting her mouth off!..If any member can "hear" what the Lady did say to the officers, then it might clear up some confusion....??

Verbal abuses from suspect can be used in court of law, but since the authorities decided to abuse by punish back to suspect WITHOUT consent from the court.

Authorities need to quit these kind of aggressive behavior and just document them and add charges on top of first charge, which is sufficient and that way, it will let Judge decide what kind of disciplinary action applies to suspect, also can be used to prove guilt of a suspect as well.

The idea of Miranda rights is if suspect say anything, they can use against the suspect, but it didn't give authorities right to beat suspect up.

“The amount of force used was abominable,” the woman's attorney, Cade Bernsen, told Yahoo News.

The incident was captured by security cameras at the Jasper, Texas, police headquarters.

Keyarika "Sha" Diggles, 25, was brought to the jail on May 5 for an unpaid fine, according to Bernsen. He said she was was on the phone with her mother trying to arrange to get the $100 owed when Officer Ricky Grissom cut off the call.

There’s no audio on the video, but Diggles and Grissom were apparently arguing when Officer Ryan Cunningham comes in behind Diggles and attempts to handcuff her. When she appears to raise her hand, Cunningham grabs Diggles by the hair and slams her head into a countertop. The officers wrestle Diggles to the ground before dragging her by her ankles into a jail cell.

“She got her hair pulled out, broke a tooth, braces got knocked off … it was brutal,” Bernsen said.

Diggles was charged with resisting arrest for arguing with the officers, a charge dropped on Monday, according to Bernsen.

Yahoo does explain better.

Broken brace - very painful and no fun.

I had broken brace because of basketball with other students so had took back to orthodontist to fix it.

It is absolutely normal and sadly this happens too often simply because people don't obey instructions. That is a big woman...and being in East Texas that woman is probably strong as bull. It is nearly impossible to handcuff someone who is resisting while they are standing straight up. They were trying to bend her over the desk to gain advantage while cuffing her....that is common.

It will matter when the officers sue the city.

The verbal abuse is clear. The physical resistance is clear.

Good luck - two police officers are indeed clearly to excessive and city council don't want police brutality to happen around.

We will see what happens when it goes to a jury. I don't think many reasonible people see any abuse here. This was a large defiant woman. There were no punches or kicks. She was asked to sit down and she didn't. She was asked to get changed and she didn't. She was asked to put her hands behind her back, and she didn't. They tried to cuff her and she resisted. So they wrestled her and cuffed her. Then they tell her to stand up and she won't. They pull her to her cell and then try to help her up, she resists....so thay drag her into the cell. Other than taxing her they really didn't have any other options.

Yaho is just another unreliable blog. Regardless, injuries can happen when you resist. That is one reason why it is a good idea not to resist.

Well, I can't find anything to satisfy you.

I rest my case.

I don't think two police officers sue the city and they know it was wrong.

The video is pretty clear on police brutality.

How did you know about police officer's request since video has no audio included?

They will sue. I guarantee it. Where do you see brutality? They tackled a resisting suspect. What you see there happens dozens of times every day.

As for the actions, that is 100% clear by body language.

The video say so.

Good luck with two police officers choose to sue and I have no sympathy on police brutality.
