As most here know I am rehabbing my house, I have pretty much opened the floorplan to see practically anywhere on the first floor except for a few blind spots where walls will remain in place. The second floor with 3 beds and a bath are not so much as friendly.... Here is my question and asking for advice/products...

I know I can get strobe lights to mount anywhere like on the ceilings/hallways..ect... But what in general can I get that will activate everything such as phone/door bell/smoke alarms? Is there a unit that will operate all this and possibly more? Id even like something that would operate a motion detector outside to let me know someone is even on the property that can be turned off when company is here or not needed.
Eventually the property will have a secured fence/remote operated gate so I really wouldnt need the motion detectors outside after that since it would operate with an intercom type system so I can see who is here. But right now everything is open around the house. In general, I am looking for a system/unit to install to help with knowing when the phone/doorbell/smoke alarms are being activated. Id like to install this while the walls are down for easier access to running wires where needed. Thanks everyone for any information ( please attach links if possible )

Mike you are doing great with this building. What you are wanting to install is a combined security/fire alarm system.
This should be very doable there should be some reasonable cost systems out there now that a do it your self person can install. I will research what I can though I doubt I can do any better than you it is interesting stuff.

I myself would also like to have the capability of using my smart phone that I don't have or my laptop to check in on my home and premises and have the monitor for the system constantly transmitting to these devices.

In addition to being able watch the place in realtime from anywhere I have internet connection I would want the capability to manually(by computer app) operate a separate alarm that would be redundant for key parts of the system and with is own battery backup fed by the UPS that handles the main system.

In addition to that because I truly hate thieves I would want to have the goodonya taser guidance system. With this I could watch in realtime the thief upon the premises on my laptop or phone... I could activate my taser tracking system and put crosshairs on the thief or thieves. Then push that button while calling the police. Whenever they get back up push the button again. Have a strobe system that goes off along with something high pitched that matches their screams of terror and pain.

Of course you can accomplish all of this with a really good dog that is a buddy to you and your son....smiles

Ha, I like that thought...lol
I am just looking for a little guidance since I cannot hear anymore, especially without aids I am deaf. It just concerns me with my boy being he will be with me mainly and I want everything to be safe in and around the house. I ended up giving my pup back to the breader, she just didn't want to learn any commands ( although she was very good with my son ) she wouldn't even bark at the door when someone knocked/rang. She was just going to be a watch dog and that was it... lay there and watch whatever...lol
Id like a system that would flash a strobe when someone came on the porch or on the premises... just so I was aware of a being on my property, but if a strobe flashes for everything geeze, then I wonder whats happening and where now.
I don't have an iPhone but I wouldn't mind getting one that could relay a video security system where I could watch anything and everything, check on my son playing...whatever. I am just trying to get ideas to incorporate into the building design before I finalize everything since I don't want to knock holes in the walls to run wires later.

I have the same thing going on also I don't like wearing my hearing aids when I am at home. A smart dog can really be a help. My neighbor used to have a horse when I was outdoors working I would watch it to see if someone was coming down the driveway.
The systems have zones so you could possibly have a different colored light for each zone as a possibility. I gotta check into this too. I used to install commercial industrial systems but now have a lot of memory loss. Usually they were not combined. There is no reason a hybrid system could not work.
You are wanting to simply prewire the walls and install outlet boxes so I will focus on that.

I think even "This Old House" has installed additional conduit when walls are open for possible use for future needs.

Yes, a buddy and I have installed 2" pvc in walls before incase wires need to be ran but that's in newer homes, this is a 1925 farm house and it is just crazy... I will get more detailed pictures this weekend so you can see the awkwardness to this build.
