There is also the matter of what they are doing with these very big drinks. I know of one guy that got in the habit of filling a very, very, large insulated mug and carried it around most of the day sipping on it from time to time.

Sounds like you are discriminating against fat people, aren't you? I bet that you know better that they are not a danger to the public.
huh? I've never said they're a danger to public... I said obesity is a threat to our country. there's a difference between "fat people" and "obese people". I guess you don't care as long as "government" keeps paying.

I guess you were just being ridiculous.
Last year, Pentagon has released a very concerning report citing that obesity is a national crisis and national security.

Obesity (not fat people) is a national security and national crisis because when more and more people are becoming obese... that means billions of dollars are being paid out by government for their medical & disability needs. that means too much money is being wasted on them and less money will be available for rest of the country. that's a national security issue.

and there will be less and less people for military, LEO, public service, etc. worst of all - there will be less taxpayers in the future which is already happening right now. that's a national security issue.

obesity is a national crisis.

I agree with the judge's disagreement with the proposed law that is useless because people can still drink alot of sodas at home. As for military, there are plenty of able-bodied people in America to join IF THEY WANT TO. Obesity is a national security issue? :laugh2:

Even if large drinks were banned, it would only affect those who are on the go... you eat in, you get unlimited refills anyways....lol

Bloomberg wants to ban free refills as well.

Wow, at what point is the line? Should we ban pizza? Maybe it's only legal to have cake on your birthday?

And remember, if we ban large sodas only criminals will have large sodas. I couldn't resist.

How can a ban in just one city gonna make difference at the national level? It affect maybe only .025% of national threat, what a joke!

What I know that will work is EDUCATION, and I can prove this easily. Which country in the world has the highest standard of education? And are there obesity people there? What are their economic climate are like?

The more government invest in good education will lead better economic climate. America has poor education system, no wonder why they are ahead into hell hole with all of the nononsense ban laws that have yet yield result.

What Mayor could have done and would have been better, enforce all restaurant post the shit contents in their food and the amount in it for public to see it and decide for themselves. Trust me, this works far better than banning em.

perfect example in this picture that should be in every restaurant.

Im not changing my stance, education is the KEY to success.

once a public smoking ban was instituted... the rest of the dominoes fall in quite nicely.

What I know that will work is EDUCATION, and I can prove this easily. Which country in the world has the highest standard of education? And are there obesity people there? What are their economic climate are like?
got proof for your correlation claim?

and yet.... it didn't work and people are still drinking and getting fatter.

NYC and NY have almost 20 million residents. one of the reason why NY/NYC are broke is because obesity is costing them money. billions of dollars. corporations have billions billions billions of dollars to advertise and to put their sodas in everywhere and the city/state government are bleeding billions billions billions of dollars to keep them alive.

Public Smoking Ban has been proven effective and cost-effective for the government. Health went up. Productivity level went up. That translates into profitable gain for everybody else.

at what point do soda corporations draw a line to sell out of greed at the expense of people's health? they don't until a government enacts a new law.

Meh, the product wouldn't be on the market if there were not a demand for it.

People do tend to waste a lot of hot air on trivialities when they are in denial about critical issues.

Prohibition didn't work then, and won't work now-- again, trivially ridiculous. Maybe an advertising campaign would be less insulting to the individual.

not that simple especially since it's addictive.

ie. cigarette

It doesn't mention that it's a national security issue.
it's a CDC link. you stated that there are plenty of able-bodied people and I'm showing you that we won't have much left if this rate keeps up.

you missed the other link.

Kids in other states also buy alot of sodas as well as junk food including candies. That's life.
a very sad life because these kids will not end up producing money for us generations.

Gonna ban cigarettes now too?

public smoking ban was good enough. not asking for sodas ban. just the sales of large sodas, free refills, and vending machines in schools.

I'm fine with high tax on cigarette in NJ-NY and it should apply to large sodas too.

I guess you were just being ridiculous.

Do you have common sense?

Too many overweight men aren't good for our military, so it is threaten to national security.

You should come to high school in Alabama - really plenty, plenty, plenty of obese students, even much worse than California.

Even, not every men are interested to join the military.
