How do other dhh people feel about making accidental noises? My husband tells me that sometimes I'm sitting reading or something and I'm making squeaking noises or something. I tend to do something like hold my breath a bit and make a snorting noise. I find it a bit embarassing to think that I might be making noises at any time, specially around people I don't know. Perhaps I am sitting on a train reading a book and making moaning and groaning noises, it seems I do it quite a lot. I guess a lot of people have that experience, from Tourettes to Cerebral Palsy to all sorts of other conditions. Do you make noises (that you know of!) and does it bother you?
..my sons come into the room and ask..."Did you call me?"....Guess I was just thinking about them and unconsciously spoke their name....And there was this deaf person who wore false teeth....everytime he ate, he sort of "smacked". His wife was always on his case to shut it up!....
oops. It is a noisy world out there to the person with hearing. That old saw about if the tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it did it make a sound? Of course it did.
