that comment you mean was interesing, i wonder if theres webpages that show what states have what sort of immgrants, (and when), during the years since america started...

im 1/4 real irish, some welsh, scots, and dunno what else french? i dunno, bit of spanish as my dad thinks, thats about it, like most of your, it goes back so far now its nearly impossible to know exactly. but definitely irish , welsh and scots.

It's interesting that Australian population were originally the prisoners, because Britain had nowhere to send with their crowded prisons.

Sort of like how Georgia was formed as one of the 13 colonies in America before the American Revolution. They all sent their prisoners to Georgia.

yep , but not NZ, the brits were referred as POMs', - Prisoners of the Motherland....(England)...
but to this day, many English are referred as Poms, with no awareness of the historical reference with prison, just 'English' like mistakening saying English were 'posh' from pommieland...
so in NZ when we get a new neighbour who happens to come from England, we say they are Poms, (meaning to come from England and nothing tdo with Jailers), people forgot history!

this sort of over used terms have a habit of breaking away from history, its common everywhere, language isnt just words, it has social meanings too, and social meanings changes over time too
