Gallaudet student arrested on drug distribution charges - Crime Scene - The Washington Post

It is the first time for me to hear that one student did drug dealing from her dorm room at Gallaudet University.

For sure she will be expelled and on persona non grata for rest of her life by the University.

I used to work as RA there and the students tend to get fines for being caught with marijuana, heroin or cocaine.

This situation is quite different...

I heard. We are very saddened by this news. Molly was so close to finishing school. I am not advocating marijuana usage but it's not fair that the laws are set up this way. She's no criminal.

whoa~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my god.. she just became sorority in 2012 and she got arrested. what was she thinking??

attractiveness of black market, that's why.

I support legalize em,

NYS governor just announced that they are starting to lay off some correctional officer and close some of prisons in NYS... Why? Because the drug law became relaxed, meaning less people were sent to prison nowadays. This proves that drug law is utterly failure.

And does not matter who, even those with high honor does dope. I have met every possible kinds of people and drugs is there.

Yes, it is my understanding that she was supposed to pursue Master's degree in ASL later this year. How unfortunate. :(

Right. That is why Washington State and Colorado recently legalized the pot.

OH thanks for correcting me. now that is worse when she was on deans list a few times. She has to clean up her reputable fast.

Yup hopefully the prosecution and her defense attorney will work out a deal to keep her out of prison and change her charges to misdemeanor from felony.

nothing wrong iwth weed, it's the white stuff you got to keep away from, besides too much weed does makes study more difficult (i know)

Oh wow, I was Gally student from July 2011 to Jan 2012 so left due to medical reason.

I can't blame on her because she needs money to survive, so people become drug dealer if they want to make a lot of money.

I'm not sure about those punishment at Gallaudet because they use point system rather than 3 strikes rule, so it means sell the drug will result in suspension, and possibly place on persona non grata during suspension.
Alcohol and Other Drugs Point System Policy - Gallaudet University

In most states, the selling drugs are felony and having felony on record will ruin the life, so I hope she fights to get lesser charge like misdemeanor.

I want Alabama to follow the NY role based on drugs, so their prison is 1st most overcrowded with over 190% capacity.

No, more states is now charging as misdemeanor for selling weeds, felony kicks in at specific amount of weeds sold like here in NY is 8 ounce or more as felony, less is not. Want doing bigger weeds business without felony?, try Louisiana! So, most? Not anymore, now looks like less than half of the states. Times has changed!

But since Gally is in DC and is funded mostly federal so federal law applies and FYI, Federal drug law is most strict of all and yes she will get felony on record. If she is in Louisiana, it won't matter much.

Wait, just check marijuana laws, she might not get felony record after all.

I still don't have any pity for her, especially when it looks like she's a distributor......

....but her mum and dad might be really nice hippies....
look at films like "meet the parents"...well they sex-manics but still...kinda similar as far as 'family weirdos' goes

I dont care if she was broke and trying to surive, selling drugs is stupid. There are other ways to make money. My ex hubby left me while I was in grad school at Gallaudet so I lost a huge chunk of the income that was supporting me but I found ways to make it through. If she loses her chance to graduate, too bad. 700 pills? Being addicted to pills is a horrible way to live and she was contributing to putting people's lives in danger.
