Watch Pawn Star and see all those experts? Say a 75 years old guy brings in a document from World War II. Now, Pawn Star will call in an expert to check the document. The expert is maybe 35 years old. Is it kind of strange to call in expert who is a lot younger than you for ancient documents?

No.

Not necessarily true. One can become expert after years of doing specialty work.

Age does not matter, some could have started very young, like Tiger Woods, he started playing golf at age 3 I think and become pro afterwards.

Another perfect example, Bill Gates, he does not have degree and is expert with software.

He must have degree.

Bad example... Bill Gates graduated Harvard. Being expert in sport does not mean you're expert with history of this sport. You could challenge me with Peter Jennings which he's a high school dropout or Dave Thomas (Wendy's founder) also a high school dropout.

Besides, you were asking about auction expert. ;)

He MUST have degree.

I was merely suggested, not fact. If I'm going to say it's fact, I would've said "Because he has university degree in hisory." But I don't know who he is and I just made a speculation.

I watched Auction King on Discovery channel, they said they always check with experts to verify the authentic and/or price value. Most of their "expert" guests are degree in history or literature. The price value they set was based on their auction experience.

As original question, the guy probably had degree in history and he probably studied WWII exclusively. Maybe you can look him up and see what kind of education he had and you might find some sort of fact that can prove him an expert.

Wrong! Bill Gates never graduate from Harvard while founded Micro$oft, he dropped off!

You can find in Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates

Gates did not have a definite study plan while a student at Harvard[31] and spent a lot of time using the school's computers. Gates remained in contact with Paul Allen, and he joined him at Honeywell during the summer of 1974.[32] The following year saw the release of the MITS Altair 8800 based on the Intel 8080 CPU, and Gates and Allen saw this as the opportunity to start their own computer software company.[33] Gates dropped out of Harvard at this time.[34] He had talked this decision over with his parents, who were supportive of him after seeing how much Gates wanted to start a company.[31]

You said "Must" which is not true once again.

He must have degree.

lol, whatever. I don't give a shit what Bill Gates did and I cannot believe you're arguing with me over what I said.
