Deaf cat needs a home and loving family in 1 cat household in the vicinity of Atlanta, GA. His name is Sebastian and he is about 18 months old now. He has heterochromia which means that he has two eyes, each with different colors. One eye is blue and the other is green. Very pretty eyes!

Sebastian is a wonderful cat - very affectionate, kind, sweet and loves companionship. He loves to explore and should really only be an indoor cat since he would not be able to hear if a car was approaching behind him. Like I mentioned in aforementioned paragraph, he also needs to be in a household and with a family where is the only cat. The reason for this is because deaf cats generally do not do well with other cats socially because other cats sense there is something "different" and pick on that deaf cat. It makes it difficult for the deaf cat to get along with other cats in that household. In my household, we have 6 other cats and it just has not worked out because of the fact that I just mentioned.

He is all white and quite strong - athletically built physically. Very cute cat!

If you would like me to send you an email with his picture and contact information, please let me know. You can contact me at JulMowrey@aol.com.

Thank you for your consideration.

Not true about the only cat. I rescue deaf pets and they are accepted completely by the other pets.

Animals do not have the human prejudice against differences.

So if anybody has room for this cat, with a little training, it would not be difficult to integrate him into the family.

i had a deaf cat (male) with six fingers at front paws. i let him go outside while i m at work. he come back to home when i get home. He loves to played with the vacuum cleaner and being closer to the speaker to feel the music real loud. Understood my communication with his needs for food, sit, play, sleep and more. Blessed him and he passed away with his peaceful sleep.

Hi Bottesini, actually this is our 2nd deaf cat and we've found this to be the case with both of them.

As a person who is deaf and hard of hearing, I don't think I'm making a generalization when I say that our two cats just didn't fit in socially with the other cats. Maybe we could have benefitted from your experience and expertise in helping them?

In any case, this kitty needs a loving family and home where he can be center of attention... and, he in return, will make them very happy, I guarantee it.

I feel you about it.
My hoh kitty can't stand my other kitty for almost a year but soon a year. Curious,

first, where did you find your kitty? so what happen if seb kitty is alone next to the other kitty. are they fighting or making some messy?

I can't think what help I could have been. I have had many deaf pets over the years, and just don't have problems.

The only problem I ever had was a deaf ferret being bitten by an almost feral cat with kittens that my daughter had rescued. But that got resolved and the ferret died of old age.

The feral cat is now a very elderly house cat still living with my daughter.

I usually rescue dogs, and now have a deaf Pekingese, who is adored by both the hearing dogs living with us.

I should mention that this cat, Sebastian, who needs a new home cries loudly and cannot be taken in in an apartment. His cries are very loud - when he is alone and cries, it is disrupting to the neighbors in the adjacent apartments so he really needs to be in a single family dwelling. He's really sweet, though!

My sister and I got Sebastian at a no kill shelter.

Are you allowed to rehome him? Our rescue league here has a rule that you must return the pet to them if you can't keep it.

And the pets are microchipped so any vet they see knows who the owner is and won't treat them until they are released by the rescue to an approved new owner. (This happened when my daughter found a stray cat. The owner did not respond to registered mail, so after approval she did get to adopt the cat.)

Hi, we could take him back to the shelter but then he'll be back into a bird cage and that seems unfair, doesn't it? I don't agree with it. We feel bad about that. He was in that cage for a whole year and not moving anywhere from the time he was 4 months old until he was 16 months old. Right now, he's in a very large bathroom and has full room to move around with his toys, a pet bed, his food and water and, of course, his litter house. He can't be around another cat because they fight so viciously. The other cat has cancer (and is frail) and my sister is not ready to put her down at this time.

Anybody interested, yet?

How long is the cat with cancer expected to survive?
