Hurricane Isaac

*shrug*

when I saw the radar map, I was like - eh that's nothing. I knew it wasn't going to be like Hurricane Katrina. The only worry is that this hurricane will be slow-moving CAT-1 storm.

Better a fast-moving CAT-2 than slow-moving CAT-1 cuz if storm moves slow, it means prolonged raining which means heavy flooding.

I love (not) all the adjectives they're using for TD Isaac even if it does become a CAT 1 or CAT 2. The adjectives I keep hearing sound like at least a CAT 3. And it "slammed" into FL? How about brushed by. Yeah, a lot of people suffered flooding and wind damage, but I would think "slammed" means a direct hit...the eye making landfall.

Ah, well, if they have to do all this sensationalism with the weather, that must mean that not much else (sensationalism-wise) is happening in the world. That's a good thing.

I better fill up the gas on my car before the gas prices go skyrocketing HIGH.

Thanks for reminding me about this! I better fill my tank up too. I wish I had way to store gas as I bet it will be up to $5.00 the way people are talking.

Yup, I heard about Mobile and Baldwin counties face evacuation.

I remember about Alabama had terrible hurricane - Ivan that hit Mobile so hard.

The last time people where not allowed to bring their pets when they had to evacuated and they refused to leave. I hope people can bring their pets this , as a lot of pet end up in shelters all across the country never to see their owners again. :(

Remmy someone did predict that gas would be close to $5/gallon....and as for Pets...due to the flooding we've had here in Jacksonville from prior rains and rivers overflowing their banks, the shelters are full of animals (strays)....being flooded out from where they were hiding....Feel it's mainly Ferral Cats.

still nowhere close to $5...

Don't be a gnat; it IS close to 5 in San Francisco.

Don't know about the gas prices here. Schools have been closed Monday and Tuesday and all but 8 schools for our district will be open tomorrow. Libraries will finally open tomorrow. One branch office for the Post Office will actually stay closed and all of their PO box mail will be routed to a different branch and all carriers will have their usual routes, but get their mail from the different branch. Two cities in the area are basically underwater. Horses from one area are being moved to another part of town.

My yard was totally flooded, but is now going down. We never lost power with the exception of a quick off/on bit 2-3 times, but not for any length of time. Yesterday, there were over 80,000 residents of Palm Beach County with electricity and today that number was down to 3500 and now, all residents have power. One Elementary school is without power and the main breaker or something suffered massive damage. Seems that one town had a tornado touch down and this school was part of it.

Main damage to our properties was the water outside. Nothing at the house under construction. In MIL's house, we had an issue with one toilet leaking water at the base, and then whenever you flushed, water came up in the shower a little. Both those things are now gone with the water going down in the yard. We have a septic system that can't take the flooding waters, I guess.

My state could receive up to 3 inches of rain from Isaac this weekend. We're already 5 inches of rain behind..all the rain will ease the drought pruhblim.. look so foward to it...poor people who will be in rain b/c of labor day weekend...swapper's day is this weekend. it's a huge event for buyers to try to sale their guns and knives and many other thangs like chainsaws,tools,clothings,animals..many,many thangs..huge redneck event,actually..they even have dog races..and raccoon hats..smh it will be a mess

if that's how you see it but I don't.

*shrug* to each his own...

I don't see it that way, no but you forget, I was talking to Rockin Robin and what I said is confined to then and there. Then you came along........
