Hey to all Cruiser BIKERS,
Since that I have Metzeler ME880 Marathon tires and it had 6K miles on it and still have thick thread, it had been 2 years since I've replaced. MY issue are that whenever I ride on wet pavement, my motorcycle seem to be skittish and slips every now and then. It rained hard during afternoon for while and roads are "cleaned". I was careful when riding on it. On dry road, I do leans normally around the bends. Some road pavements are old and smooth, causing my motorcycle to slip while leaning at turn at 20-25 mph. I hate the feeling when it slips and I had to correct it quickly by throttle down and tweak the steering to steady it.
Tires of my motorcycle are tubed and I had air pressure checked. Front is 38 psi and rear is 44 psi. Motorcycle weighted 1,200 lbs. Previously, I had old air pressure guage that read inaccurately that caused tires to be over inflated. It made riding feeling skittish until I decide to buy new dial pressure guage with "needle lock/release" button. I found out front tire was 43 psi and rear 48 psi. No wonder and I released air until correct air pressure met within Metzleler's manufacture recommendation.
Metzeler tires were rated the best BUT as for me riding, it is okay.. Tho the tires are hard that made thread last long time.
I am fully aware that any soft tires regardless prices tend to wear out quickly and noticed many reviews that riders commented about soft tires said that it sticks road really good and handles wet pavements well.
I used to have original Suzuki tire was IRC GS-23 which was an OEM tires on front and rear, It was bald on rear and little thread on front when I bought it which had 8,500 miles on it. It apparently it's a soft tires which wore out quickly
I would LOVE to "see" your opinions AND experience about your motorcycle tires and recommendation which would give me consideration for next tires once Metzeler wears out.
So pitch in your thought!...
