Hello, my name is Sara Jesse and I am a college student who is taking an American Sign Language class. I am in need of some help, I need to interview a deaf person and unfortunately I don't know any deaf people, so if your interested in having me ask you a few questions let me know. The interview will be conducted through email. You can contact me at sjesse01@baker.edu.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Bold )

Please don't take this the wrong way - but the point of the assignment you've been given is to meet people locally an sign with them. This is so you can woork on your expressive and receptive signing skills as well as start making connections and friends within the community. (There's no point -for Hearing- learning ASL if you aren't willing to seek out your local Deaf community!)

If you don't know any Hoh/Deaf in your area you need to ask your teacher how to start connecting with local Hoh&Deaf.

I'm kind of shocked how many people come here and apparently their teachers haven't don't any "involvement activities" ... Things like Deaf movie nights, bowling, silent dinners, Deaf Coffee or various Deaf fundraisers.

You need to talk to your teacher and ask that you and your class are given actually exposure to your local Deaf Community!!

I don't know if you had to interview someone within the week or end of the semester. Not sure what the rush was. Why not make friends with a person who is deaf instead of worrying about passing an exam or class assignment??
