I've not kept my phones very long. I always get different phones all the times.

I don't keep my cars very long. I get different cars all the times.

I don't keep my bikes very long. I get new bikes all the times.

I do keep my dogs until death do them.

I'm scared, very scared. I got a wonderful girlfriend who wants to spend rest of her life with me. Her family loves me very much. I don't want to swap around or treat someone like a bike or a car. I hope I do the right thing and stick with my girlfriend until death does us.

I wonder if there are correlations? You know, a person who changes cars or bikes all the times may change person whom they want a relationship with all the times.

Sigh. Instead of worrying about this, try to think about why you have such a personality that becomes tired of things. What is causing your need for constant change? It probably has something to do with what you value in your life and how you derive self-worth from objects. Also, consider that you're talking about material things.

You shouldn't compare a relationship to material goods. You're just asking for a whole lot of trouble if you do that.

Lastly, stop being insecure! That's not attractive to any woman.
MAN UP!

dereksbicycle - you just about freaked out when you learned your girlfriend was playing innocent game apps on facebook with male players and you thought her texting you a minimum of 30 times a day was not enough and now you're thinking about ditching her like she's a commodity even though you pointed out that she's trying hard to learn ASL and be considerate of your needs?

What happened to make you swing from out of control jealousy and neediness of her attention to thinking about dumping her?

Because dumping her is another control mechanism effort. I have seen it used before.

Shows that you get bored easily with things. Hopefully you do not get bored of the relationship.

If you keep talking like this kind of talk. then it shows me something that you are not ready for relationship, are you? :hmm:

I like what TWA just told you in his post.

I think it's different depending on the context. And as TheWAlex said, these are material items.
I'm an android developer. Hanging on to old phones is like using windows 95 when everything in the tech world is on Windows Vista or Windows 7. It doesn't do me any benefit to keep older technology around. I could if I wanted to, but then I'd only have to develop for myself - few others would be interested in it because they've moved on to new phones or upgraded to a new one after their 2-year contract renewal.

Is it an issue of quality for you?
Maybe you could look into buying better items than cheaper lesser-quality items?

If you are unwilling to spend much and cheapskate on an inferior item, you might not get the same durability as an expensive long lasting item.

deresk, were you mainstreamed without a lot of great social interaction? I (and prolly many others here) can understand your insecuriity.......I know it's all "OMG I have a friend! I gotta make sure she's real! I gotta not let her get away and all.......Just love her. Don't go overboard. Allow her some space. I know how it is.....I was in a simlair sitution in high school, had had NO friends and basicly scared away a dear friend that I have not spoken to in 15 years :(

Hey, we ain't professional and from what we see, you sure need a professional help. Because, trust me NOTHING is fair, and there is no such thing as bed full of roses that would last forever. I have been there, been though hell and what you are doing is just classic symptom that disaster is waiting to happen.

To dereksbicycle > With the two bold statements, you really need professional help to talk with your psychology therapist or counselor about your problem of fear of losing or self esteem. I think you are just not ready to settle down yet unless you have no fear of what your future will be like. You worry too much. Just let it go. Let your instinct take control of your life as you go along whatever your decision is taking you. Having a relationship is not easy like diehardbiker mention.

If you can feel into positive thinking in the right way and knowing that your love for your love one is very positive, then it would be all right with the world. I do understand your concern about her being an hearing person living with you as a deaf person. Most marriages whether hearing or deaf have tried to make the marriage work and it sure is not easy at all. Two heads are better working to make the marriage work than one all by yourself. :cool2:
