hey all,
so I still have tendinitis in my elbow. and I had it for 3 years straight. I had a minicamp last weekend from drumline that lasted from friday evening (3:30-7:30) to saturday morning-afternoon (9AM-5PM) to sunday evening (1pm-9pm) to monday (9am-9pm) and i think i pushed my elbow too hard on the last monday. It's been hurting all last week and all this week. Now i haven't been icing too much, because of my busy schedule but my neighbour is also a physical therapist, and i've been going to her for free, it helps but not all the time. This is my last week of break before i go back to school on january 3rd and I start my busy schedule again with drumline and school. Drumline season will end somewhere in April. I graduate in early June from high school. I've been trying to take it really easy with my elbow and it hurts everytime i play with heavy mallets when we have to be really intense with the music that we're learning. I keep telling my parents that they need to take me to some kind of specialist to get my elbow checked. but they kept telling me to take medicine and ice it mostly or to quit drumline. I was just talking to my friend on facebook who was also a former drumline member, and he told me to not move my elbow at all. My elbow basically feels like its not supported, and that its straining, another feeling i can't describe. When i move my elbow, like signing for example or moving something, it hurts.

I don't want to quit drumline, because i love it and because of my injury. But i don't know what else to do other than to go to a doctor to get it checked out. I need some advice.

You probably need surgery for such a long term , repeatedly aggravated injury.

Your parents must have good enough insurance since they just got you a second CI.

I am surprised they don't worry about this injury, which is going to be a lot harder for you to get treated when you leave home.

even for a tendinitis? my friend got surgery in his wrist from drumline this past early summer, i don't know excatly if it was tendinitis. i don't know what else to tell my parents this. and I think its because my parents are saving money.

4. Severe Cases May Require Surgical Intervention

Tendonitis surgery is a last resort and generally reserved for those suffering from severe pain or limited mobility. Surgical intervention may be recommended in the case of tendon tears, tendon ruptures and bone spurs. A bone spur can rub against the tendon, leading to inflammation, irritation and potentially, a tear in the tendon. A surgeon must remove the bone spur, and may also need to repair the tissue if it has been damaged. Most likely, the area will need to be immobilized post-operatively and a period of structured rehabilitation will be required to regain full flexibility, strength and range of motion.

There is a lot more information about symptoms at the link I posted. You could check to see.

i just looked at it, i noticed a brace or a splint to help reduce it, i've been using the brace a lot in band, doesn't help. and i had to stop and go and get ice for my elbow ALOT in practice and my pit tech always have me play with my right hand alot while my left is resting. and idk i'm fustrated and my parents wont listen to me. and they always keep saying to get medicine or ice or heat pad or quit just to make me shut up.

Most chronic problems require heat not ice but you can do both on and off ..you should get it checked though
