What did you learn today? Part II

We had that too here in MN for a while. They eventually did away with that. I never had to pay for inspection repairs, but heard of so many who did. Yuk.

learned my car didn't pass inspection and now I will have to use the money that I had planned for my business account to pay for car repairs. I'm on a shoe string budget. Total for car will be around $200 dollars.

I am so glad my state has done away with the inspections. Maybe you need to move here.

Learned that my good friend got a summons from the police telling her to appear in court for not paying for her townhouse. She coudlnt afford it after her hubby left her for another woman. She is soo afraid of going to jail...would she? She tried to file for bankrupty but was denied...tried to get a short sale but her ex hubby refused to sign the papers.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

Inspections

Here in California we have very tough regulations. If you car does not pass smog check you can't re-register until it passes. Every other year you have to do this.

I know in Missouri, there is a vehicle inspection and if you live in a certain area around St. Louis, or I think Kansas City also, you have to have emissions testing. Here in Florida, there used to be a vehicle inspection, but there no longer is. In some cases I feel there should be one, There are a lot of junk cars on the road. We actually saw one being held together with duct tape.

It would just foreclose. Nobody gets summoned to court over non-payment by an ex-husband. At least not here. Maybe other states are different, but I do not think anyone is summoned to court over civil (housing) matters.

She tried to file for bankrupty but got denied. She is trying short sale but her ex hubby refuses to sign the paperwork so she thought maybe the bank would just take over the house but to her shock, the cops showed up at her door serving her with a court appearance. She is freaking out now and texing me like every 5 minutes. She went through hell because her ex was seeing one of our friends for 4 years before we all found out and then got her pregnant while they were still legally married. Now, they just had their baby 4 weeks ago so she really had to go through a lot and now this crap? Geez...

It used to be like that here. After a new governor got voted in, he did away with that law. I think the reasoning was that there were not enough cars that did not pass inspection, and costing more for inspection stations/inspectors.

Crafts

Good for you. My mom taught my daughter when she was around 7years old. She could knit and crochet very fast. We use to think it was a little funny, her sitting in the rocking chair knitting at 7years old. She was so fast and could do it without looking.

Unbelievable!....:giggle:...haven't seen one like that (duct taped)...but one of our neighbors has a car that is so damn ugly and old....I'd be embarrassed to drive or ride in it!

A while back there was talk of AR reinstating the inspections simply because there are so many cars out there that don't meet minimum requirements. I've seen some jalopies that would be better served as scrap metal.

I should add to that if you have a car, you are in the worlds 10% richest population.

That sometimes the best words are those that are left unsaid.
