Do you have anyone who can be with you at the hospital? I to suffered from seizures, but under control with meds. I feel so bad for you. Maybe you can write down your needs so if you end up going to the hospital they can see them. Just a thought though. Good luck!!!!

I agree with deafskeptic, sounds like you need to go to the hospital. Sent you a PM.

In the past I've gone to a few HLAA meetings that talk about how to discuss communication needs with the hospital and I can post about that later. Its handy info to know -- but for now, I would just go to the hospital.

Bring pen, paper and tape with you. Write down "I am Deaf" on a few sheets. Tape one on the wall near your head. One on the foot of the bed near your chart and give one to the nurses to be placed on their desk on your hospital floor.

Hope you feel better fast!

Not to be a skeptic, but if you're in that bad a shape, you wouldn't be posting! You would already be in the hospital. Having seizures all day would take a huge toll on the body. If you have tonic clonic seizures, you'd probably wouldn't even be awake right now. You'd be in the post-ictal state and probably sound to sleep.

I don't mean to cast doubt here, but myasthenia gravis is serious, and, so is a seizure disorder! If you're truly in a bad way, get yourself to the ER NOW. You can request an interpreter. Prolonged seizures can kill you! You need to get checked out, so please, get offline and get some help...NOW!

Yes, go to the hospital now. I know you don't know sign yet -- but the hospital has to communicate with you on your terms. It's not their choice -- it's the ADA.

Bring pen and paper and have them write down everything for you. An aide can do that if the doctor doesn't want to. Call patients relations or patients advocates (names vary, depends on the hospital) and explain your situation to them. Ask for their help for smooth communications. In my experience (albeit as an outpatient or just regular annual patient) they are agressive and will help you. Doctors fear them.

I got a text from her boyfriend. She is at the ER now. I don't know how she is doing now, but I am glad that she did end up going to the hospital.
