On hot days I pack a bottle of water in a cooler for my dogs when I take them for a walk. I was doing this today and as soon as Marty saw the cooler he knew he was going a walk and got all excited! I knew Marty was an observant little dog when I saw him at the shelter but not this observant! He was jumping for joy! It was really cute! It is good to see Marty finally be healthy after being on on meds for so long!

same thing with my dogs, when they see me with a particular outdoor snow jacket they know, before i even say the w-a-l-k word, hell even plain clothes that word they ears goes twitching and they whimper then bark lol

This is interesting, Marty should not eat beef.

Marty is a very fussy little eater and I am still trying to find the best diet for him. A friend told me to feed him grounded beef. And during our walk today I ran into a woman that has a West Highland Terrier and she said this breed should not eat beef. She feed her dog deer meat. Marty is part poodle too and they're fussy eater , so this made Marty an extra FUSSY eater! I when a farmer
Co-Op that sell only good quality dog food and the woman buyer for dog food gave a can of food that most dog like, and Marty does not like it!! GRRR!
Help! What do people feed small fussy doggies??!!

The old stand-by, boiled chicken with rice, moistened with low-sodium chicken broth, if they have upset tummies.

Other than that, we feed "Purina One" that is the chicken/rice combo (canned food available at grocery store), mixed with Purina "Beneful" dry food. We fed some premium food for a while (Natural Harmony or Nature's Harmony, something like that - expensive!) but since we use only about a tablespoon of canned food mixed in with the dry, we found that the left-over food in the can very quickly got an "off" odor (within a day).

Probably the grocery store stuff has more preservatives, which I'm not crazy about, but they seem to do the job.

For the record, none of the three poodles I've owned are particularly fussy eaters. They eat what they are given, almost always.

There was one food we tried when Casey was young (also a premium food) that he did not care for. Other than that, of the normal canned food you can buy anywhere, the only one that neither of them liked was the venison. Casey even threw up afterwards, while Pippin - who normally will do ANYTHING for food - took one sniff, turned around and looked at me, like "WHAT are you giving me, mom?"

Definitely not a hit.

I was feeding Finlay Natural Harmony , I thought he was getting fussy but it was the cancer that made it hard for him to eat. I was buying Marty canned chicken/rice combo he did OK with for awhile then he stopped eating it! I feed him Blue Buffalo dried dog food,he was getting that at the shelter. I may try to return the bag of Blue Buffalo for some deer meat. I find it interesting that he should not eat beef. I am getting hungry for my lunch talking about food!

Try just one can of the venison blend before you buy much of it. Neither of my dogs liked it at all, and Casey threw it up. It's not something I would recommend, based on that.

Swweeeeeeet! I remember when I took the leash out of drawer. My old dog Bosco, Bosco ran after me and jumped a lot even though i don't put leash on his neck at all. I still bring the leash with me in case if something was going on outside that I have to be prepared. He had a collar on. So we walked and he walked with me. He was a wonderful dog!! sweet marty!

I am not going get into feeding Marty canned food anymore! I tried it and wasted money! I have to throw the last can as he does not like it! If I leave the food out too long it goes bad. I get busy with something and forget the food it out.

Marty is funny when I give him a cookie he like to eat next to me.

I can see that he's feeling much better. I am glad!

Yes. he is feeling better and I think he feel better when it cool down in the fall.
He get very playful when I take him out on a cool night! The bad part there are so many rabbits and chipmunks in our yard Marty bark at them and he has very loud raspy bark due his to bronchitic and this could wake up people. I also have to care as he almost got us both sprayed by a skunk 2 times at night!
I should keep some tomatoes juice on hand! LOL!!

New pictures of Marty. I am just putting these up for whatdidyousay. :)
