$1.5M Ferrari Crashed into Atlantic Ocean in Newfoundland

yeh you should, just dismantle the motor, gearbox, dry it out, sell off other parts, and or if you can, dry out the chassic, chuck the body, unless its made of carbon fibre (wont rust)...the innnards seats, just replace it with normal rally seats etc etc
it might work
i cant im in New Zealand! and dont have that deep pocket to take on such a project

Take lot lot time to rinse with water and dry out. Replace electronic boxes, computers, dash etc.... maybe replace whole harness (wirings). Carbon Fibre? I think the salt water might seep inside the exiting holes or hollowed walls, become swollen or degrade. Who know?

It's not the roads, it's the DRIVER's error or mechanics error. They should have used the right type of tires or something. Also, maybe it's possible the race committee didn't order to clean the roads before race starts or it's just a challenge for the drivers to take. You have to be a very good driver to take hairpin turns and everything. The roads don't look bad to me...try here, far worse than that. He's just a lousy driver, that's all.

Second of all, this is a long distance race with a navigator like they do in world rally races.

Agreed

hmmm, i would think the enzo/fxx ferrari is bit too twitchy for the road-surfaces-abhensional dulations in other words frictions changes, so yes either tyes of the base/length/trails/width of wheel and wieght distribution 'might be ideal' but not all that ideal for real-road handling, still this is my view

and yes drivers too, but id bet he's a better than you or most of us for that matter , its like watching world championship m/c racing its easy to think 'oh i can ride like that, this guys doing it wrong, this rider is chickenshit or scared of brakes, or other riders is not going low enough, etc etc, this same sort of fooling ourselves we'er better is sooo easy to do

partly for this reason i still tend to think its the machine's profile in intself, its a perfect ROAD, (for completely smooth, completely sealed road, then its a perfect translation of speed and handling but once the conditions changes its cant hold it. same be said for 4x4s SUVs they go quite fast but never in teh same way as sports car...i dunno if im explaining anything so each to their on in opinions, and you're probably more correct than me because you digs cars more than i do, both in theory and real life..so you'd have more say from experience id say, but still i suspect that car Was Not right AND/its highly likely they failed to scruntineer the entire route thus failure to sweep of hazard...this is probably the most likely explanation, but still i reckon its the car too, like if its that perfect the pile of sand/dirt wouldnt have meant squat..none of this would'ne happened, so in the nutshell, its the 'forgiving' handling seems to be the case...(read -missing)

yup, I think the driver didn't spend his time to test his car around the road, end up in the water. His problem not his car lol.

It is kinda hard to tell if the road has dirt or sand that caused loss of control. Maybe, too much oversteer with lots of torque to the rear wheels causing the car to swerve and go off the road. If he knew how to get the car under control, then that would be no problem. It didn't look like he was going pretty fast. Looks like around 40-50 mph tops at the hairpin curve entrance or something. It's like throwing lots of weight from the rear of the car into something kinda like a baseball pitcher throwing a ball. IF you know what I mean.

Probably forgot to tweak his car for the race or the driver made an error to prevent an accident.

ok yup id agree with this too

well,, if you read the article the guy was all good about it, it was a tiny but expensive mistake, id say it wasnt that bad, but honesty a bit funny to watch thou...lol
840HP!! shhheeeeeeitt! that's a LOT
my car probably make 700 less LMAO

I dont know if ya'll know or not, but this guy isnt your normal driver. He is an amateur/pro racecar driver. He came around a rather sharp corner, looks to have popped the clutch just a little early WHILE ALSO hitting some sand/gravel and the torque monster that is came around him. Try driving a race car (yes, thats a street legal racecar) that on crappy roads and watch what happens

same to me. good mini movie. Dumb driver

Sounds similar to sequoias's post #26. I still side with your theory. Amateur? that explains why he didn't pay attention to the sand/gravel on the road. His car can't handle on the loose sand/gravel road, he should know better. No excuse.

Its not his fault that there was an unexpected patch of sand/gravel around a blind corner. Anybody that has/does race cars will tell you the track should be cleared of debris (minus rally/off road racing). He wasnt expecting to come across a patch of trash on the track, think of it this way; what does NASCAR do when the track is wet?

I don't think Ferrari have clutch pedal. It's use dual clutch transmission.

same concept can happen with paddle shifters. he came arund a corner, changed gears, tires grabbed and hit sand/gravel, and the back of the car came around once landing in the right gear

The patch of gravel most certainly was not "unexpected". They knew it was there.

Think of it this way; do you think any racer will race on a road that they never studied before?

well, yeah they wont be expect to know EVERYTHING, just like Isle of Man TT, in UK, its a famous motorcycle road race, like how the else would any riders except the most extraordinary to recall the details in the entire 37 miles in a lap???
so yeah probably not in this case too

so he got to be forgiven not to mention 840 almst 850 HP , for fucks sake some nitpicking when clearly he's loade (dont be jealous) he's also a fine driver, and indeed better than ME... he have my respect... just cuz some wanker(s) decided to spin some nit picking jokes on him..they havent got a fckn clue...

well lets be honest , I know i made mistake to agree to laugh at him but in reality, its an awful (if small to him) thing to happen but its not THAT small his race was effectively fucked up and cancelled...

and he was doing it for fun and a cause...

so

yeah..i changed my mind when i read PFHs remark i thought about it...
he'd not the richet guy but yes pretty rich alright..
who cares....

i found that if i dont jealous of rich ppl they are really nice, and helpful hell ive even helped them a couple of times when i could... and just helping to make ANY one happy is triumph..
