I'm starting to like the Hyundai starting in around 2011 and beyond. They have designed it really nice and have great gas mileage. I heard the reliabity of the Hyundai has improved a lot since. Many of the Japanese car makers don't appeal me anymore. Toyota have become appliances, Honda's styling have gone downhill and looks uglier, Subaru is ok ok, Mitsubishi is out of my league, etc.

I really like the Hyundai Sonata a lot. It gets the same highway gas mileage as my tiny Honda Civic. It has a 200 hp 4 cylinder with lots of pep and is fun to drive. (believe me because I work for Enterprise).

Basically Hyundai and Kia (both same company as I understand it ) is the new Honda. Well built, out to get new customers while giving good quality cars for fair price.

Honda used to be same in 80's and 90's. Sadly they forgotten and started caring more about bottom line than treating customers right.

Eventually Hyundai and Kia will do same ( Could be wrong but usually they forget and start thinking of bottom line)

If that happens, another company will rise up or older company would learn hard lesson and start doing right (Remind you of Hyundai in 80's so far?)

Seems like it started around 2009 to 2010 that a lot of kia and hyundai vehicles received a major cosmetic facelift. It's like they flipped on a switch and thought "ok, let's design what people like."

Ever since then, seeing a lot of their vehicles today. Hyundai equus, Sonata/Sonata hybrid, Kia forte, optima/optima hybrid.

Maybe a part of it is that we have more asian influence than we did in the past, so since they're willing to buy stuff from their home nation out of loyalty and respect while other people start thinking that the cars are okay and decide they want to buy it too.

Yep, it's like they changed in a sudden overnight and make it an appeal to many customers. I'm one of them, haha. I like the Hyundai better than the Kia in general. Altho, a bit off point. Ford has done a lot of work to improve their vehicles but still not into Fords.

The Hyundai Genesis coupe is really a sweet car! I haven't driven in one but it looks awesome and heard it's a great drifter car on the track. They have done a great job.

Vast improvement and better than the past. The past Hyundai had troubles with trannies, and bad emissions (often failed smog checks). Just a throught

 believe it or not, we bought a brand new Kia Soul. This model is currently a hot seller. So far so good. Does not ride like a Caddy but it has been great so far.

I'm jealous. What color is it?

Interesting! What models and years of the Hyundai had transmission issues and emission problems? I'm curious!

Yeah I drove that several times. I just don't like the styling, not a fan of crossovers like Scion xB, Soul, etc.

Most failed smog inspections on 2000 to 2004 Accent/Elantra, and Kia Rio (I cant recall) is Check Engine lights on as these vehicles brought in for smog checks. The Check Engine lights were coming from bad cat converters (code P0420) and transmission control system such as bad input/output speed sensors, and TCC (code P0700ish). They can fix easy no pull trannies out of the vehicles.
Some customers were upset that I didn't inform them when the C/E light on as the vehicle brought in. Not my problem cuz they ask for smog check, they know better. Why? They neglect the Check Engine light on. Easy money on failed smog check.

not the same company.

Kia is partially owned by Hyundai after Kia filed for bankruptcy. Ford almost got it.

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )
