Can Sunny figure out how to do a poll? That might be the real question...

I figured it out!!!!! I feel like smartest woman alive right now!!!!

what age is supposed to be for late deafened child? I became deaf at age 2 and half, not fully language development.

There's also no option for HOH at birth and then progressed, which is actually me, so I just checked HOH at birth.

I was most likely deaf from birth. Parents didn't know till I was 3.

I became deaf at age two, so there should be "early-deafened as a child." :giggle:

Yeah lol, me too. I know some people became deaf at age 7 or 10 or 12 but me as a toddler. young or older child are big difference. I think. dunno...

I posted this in another thread to you.

I actually gained some hearing back at two which enabled me to learn to speak. With an odd accent, but I speak.

It does say deaf from birth. I marked deaf from birth for myself.
So where does it fits me in? I was born hearing and speak very well till age 2 and half then I lost it all till I learn sign language at age 8 and half. I lost 6 years of language but once I learned sign language then I remember some but alot of lost in the area between 2 and half and 8 and half year old. My mother told me I was prelingually not postlingually. dunno on this one. :)

My guess is that I would call that post-lingually. If you are deaf before you learn language, then that's prelingual. If you were already speaking because you could hear and know speech, then that seems like post-lingual ... Just my 2 cents?

In other post, Jill told postlingually is around 3 and 3 and half. If I am postlingually then why am I struggle with my writing and reading skill. :) Hard to say they told me I was very advanced for my age before I became ill and lost all of my hearing.

I don't know what the medical term is for determining pre- and post- lingual deafness. I was always under the impression that if you hadn't learned speech or language yet and were already deaf, that'd be pre-lingual. Going deaf after learning language would be post-. I'm not so sure it has to be with age, it depends on rate of speed. Again, my 2 cents. :)
