Southern U.S. distillery to legally sell moonshine

moonshine tastes funny then there is no point!

Growing up in the backwoods of Carolina, I remember the "stil(l)" that my father had. Which was across the dirt road from our weather-beaten house on a hill and into the deep woods....he would sort of "sneak" out there late evenings, along with our farm hand "Clarence"....my siblings and I followed them one evening, and got a severe beating for that....

There was always "Moonshine" at our house, and my father sold it in big Mason Jars....the stuff was so potent, I remember taking a drink of it when I was a little girl...the stuff burned my throat and I was became drunk as a skunk! I never took another drop of it!...There were always hillbillies at our house also, even tho' the nearest person I knew (which was my Aunt), and she lived 5 miles down the dirt road....those hillbillies lived way back in the woods...always a "drunken party" going on...but it all caught up on my father, as he had a severe stroke from the alcohol...even my Grandmother was an alcoholic (actually, she was always drunk, but I didn't know it!)

No way would I want another drink of Moonshine!

when my great grandfather Grove bought the old mill in Luray, he found the remains of a still in the mill.

Here's a picture of the old mill. It's better known as the Willow Grove Mill and my mother's cousin lives right across from it.

Very cool. Maybe they should rename it "Willow Grove Mill and Still".
