Hey to all,

I just downloaded software to allow me to access webcam via browser for security/check my cats at home. I use old netbook as a server and USB Logitech Vision Pro for sharp video. I had hard time trying to figure out how to use it. I was able to configure software to run USB webcam with no problem. But accessing it thru browser on another computer won't work. I have to set up either homepage or DNS to be able to access it. This software also allows copy and paste links to homepage.

I would figure it out how to do it but the DNS part is where my weakness are. I had Dyndns and didnt understand how to really use it. I also used to have homepage from rr.com and they discontinued it couple years ago.

Can anyone give me some advice and hints to how to set it up.

Thanks
Catty

You need to tell your router the dyndns settings to when you disconnect and reconnect the router tells dyndns about the change.

If you are trying to access the camera from a browser you do not need a homepage, just the dyndns address pointing to your internet ip.

You also need to set up port forwarding on the router to the camera.

If you need help pm me. :)

OK that's good advice. I'm away from home right now. I am able to access my netbook via phone. I use Wyse PocketCloud app on HTC Evo 4G and installed file in Netbook. It's base on TightVNC. Its kinda slow going which are typical. I could access router to set up DNS.

I can run Webcam through PocketCloud with no problem but the video refresh rate is very slow, perhap about 10 seconds. There's no settings in PocketCloud to refresh quickly.

I tried to set up home page through Google Sites, I did set it up and tried to copy and paste Script from WebcamXP to Google's script editor. It didn't work. I guess I'm too stupid on how to do that  Basically, there are 3 options in WebcamXP script for video which is JavaScript, Flash MJPEG, or Native MJPEG (for firefox) in HTML Generation Wizard. HTML Generation Wizard that I copied from is a script to me. This would allow streaming video. It also have Broadcast HTTP, Upload HTTP/HTTPS, and Upload FTP/FTPS option. It's preset to Broadcast HTTP which I am currently using. To use DynDNS, I would have to use Upload HTTP/HTTPS setting because it have SN and Password setting. I downloaded PDF instruction on how to set it up.

I will do that when I get home from camping.

Thanks
