Hi,
My name is Debbie and my daughter just introduced me to alldeaf. My daughter has a CI and a profound hearing loss. I am very interested in staying up to date with things concerning my daughter's hearing.
I live in Glenville NC and travel to FL to see my 3 children very often.

Welcome! I'm a fellow mom of a wonderful ci-borg daughter.

Hi Debbie, welcome to AD! Love the picture. Your husband has that "cat who ate the canary" sort of smile. Cute picture of you both.

Are you fairly close to Asheville? What a beautiful area that is. I'm posting from the OBX right now - gorgeous area, and we are fortunate to spend our summers here.

How old is your daughter, and how long has she had her CI? Is it working out well for her? Which maker did she go with? (Edited: Duh! Just realized it's you, Shoshana. Well, if you feel like answering the questions, would love to know!)

At any rate, welcome. Please don't hesitate to jump right in to any topics you find interesting. There's a lot of good info here, about hearing, deafness, dogs, travel, romance, advanced technology, and all sorts of things. Have fun!

I am 19 (in college), I have had the Freedom design CI for almost 5 years. It works on and off as I have nerve damage hearing loss as well.

Damage to the auditory nerve? Yeah, that would complicate things, wouldn't it!

Thanks for the response, and welcome to both you and your mom here.

yea, I had nerve damage related hearing loss and cochlea related loss.

 welcome to see you enjoy!
welcome AD anytime posts forum

Welcome Debbie - just so you know - I am in the same town as your daughter. Hope I get to meet her soon.

Welcome to AllDeaf!! We are a varied bunch and lots of debates and conversations abound regarding hearing loss, HA's and CI's and most importantly, the full toolbox approach to hearing loss with ASL in the forefront.

Thanks

Just want to thank everyone for your warm welcomes to Alldeaf. My daughter encouraged me to sign up and now I see why. I will be one more once I get back home. We have a very loved one in the hospital so I have been spending a lot of time visiting. Life is very busy! I look forward to being more involved and learning more and more and more.
thanks again to such wonderful people.

Oh Boy!! You are minutes away from Cherokee and all the beauty of N.C.
I travel to Mills Spring/Tryon twice a year from Houston, Tx. I'll be in your heck of the woods in late Sept. Would not miss fall in the Carolinas for all the money in the world. Me? I'm profound deaf since birth.

Welcome to ALL DEAF.

where in TX are you? Yes NC is so beautiful in the fall. where do you go in NC?

:welcome:to AllDeaf forum. Have fun reading and posting all the threads here. See you around here.

Houston...I take I-10 east to I-65 in Mobile, my birthplace, going northeast to Atlanta, through Auburn, I'm a die-hard War Eagle, up I-85 to Spartanburg, up I-26 to Columbus then take the back road, Highway 9, to Mill
Spring.
Home of my ex's family and I'm still real close to them all.
We take 26 up to 40 and then over to Cherokee. Once we went back on 107 because we were told 26\40 had a terrible accident and to go the other way. So going back we waved to you!! Do remember stopping at Cashiers to use the potty.
I love the whole Blue Ridge Parkway and try to get up there ever fall, crazy colors everywhere. While driving, I'm the only one going on-and-on, "Look at that!!" the others are saying "Enough already!"
