Well, I can assure you that Buffalo Zoo is one zoo I would like to see closed. The large animals live in very small spaces.

I've got to vote Mixed Feelings.

I've been to the Portland Zoo a couple of times. It's a nice zoo, but I can't help but think that some of the animals in captivity are not having the freedom they should have.

But on the other hand, some animals will fare better in the zoo. The eagle with one blind eye would not have done as well in the wild.

I have mixed feelings. Like Banjo said, if there is a zoo with large animals in small cages, I wouldnt like that at all.

It depends on the zoo and the space, donations, natural beauty and all the other reasons. So I have mixed feelings about zoos.

True, that. Some zoos are very well maintained and very animal centered. Others are deplorable in their conditions.

Yeah for example Omaha Zoo is well maintanced, have good space for large animals, good natural beauty matches them, etc. Its a nice zoo to visit.

It is very pretty good love zoo is beautiful! good I love animal interesting learn it!

....Dunno...guess he thought the elephant was "sticking up" the other elephant...all I remmy was that I hurried the boys along, and my other 2 were laughing, I got irritated and said...."Hurry it up....we haven't got all day!"....I went "deaf and dumb" for the rest of the zoo trip.....(see no evil...hear no evil...dunno if the elephants were having fun or not).

One of those uncomfortable parenting moments!

The Columbus Zoo is amazing, too. And the Cincinnati Zoo is right up there.

I have mixed feeling about zoos, some are good, some are not good.

Birmingham Zoo is good that I had been.

I love going to the zoo. Just like everything....some are good and some are bad. I give the FW zoo alot of credit the animals there seem well cared for. I have been to a zoo where the animals were poorly cared for...that was horrible. off topic but I HATE the circus.

Second here, circus is full of junk. :ugh:

No! They should not be in their cage for rest of their life. I never forgot in the newspaper and TV news about one poor white pole bear. The pole bear broke a thick cage and got escaped. Then, the cop shot him without thinking twice.

Why? The bear's cage was so small since he was a baby in the same place and same size. The bear had a freedom for two hours outside to feel good himself before he was shot. In fact, the owner of the zoo refused to spend on a bigger cage because he was so cheap and greedy.

That's why I hate all zoos even some zoos are beautiful, but they do have many very dark side problems such mean employees and employees abuse them when the hours are closed.

Even, careless people are not even read the warning not to feed or make fun of them especially young teenagers. There is no law for this problem for many years except a death from lack of nourishments. Now, you see that the police broke the law that killed the bear that does not automatically charge him for a criminal because he is the police enforcement. What idiot he is!

Leave the wild animals alone in the nature. We have the internet to learn about it instead of looking at alive animals in the nasty cages. It is almost like when you stay in the hospital that you don't want to stay too long. Got it? It's the same problem for all circus.

They aren't all in cages. At the Portland Zoo, polar bears swim, zebras and giraffe and hippos have their pens to roam, and birds have room to fly.

Same with the two I mentioned. In fact, the Columbus Zoo has a large area known as "The Wilds" that mimics natural habitiats of several animals. The only way to tour it is in a jeep.

That's pretty cool. Kind of remind me of an attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Yeah, it is really cool. I took my 10 year old great neice a couple of week-ends ago. I like the regular zoo, too, but the jeep tour through the wilds was really cool. It didn't happen to us, but the zookeeper driving our jeep said sometimes a chimp will jump on the jeep and hang on for a ride!

Oh, they have a place like that in Washington called Northwest Trek. I wouldn't even call it a zoo. It's got a lot of exhibits and a tour bus you can take rides on. I haven't been there for years, but it's nice. :cool2:

Yes, it varies by zoo.

I've only been to one zoo, but from what I've seen... it looks very roomy compared to what I see in movies.
