Scott Signs Welfare Drug Testing Bill

I was discussing this with someone. They said for welfare to ask for a urine sample is a violation of their privacy rights.

Same person told me that people will just use other peoples urine to pass the test.

There are numerous ways to get around the urine tests. And believe you me, the addicts know them all. This is just another one of those, "Hey look, we are fighting the war on drugs" legislations. Looks good until you start to think about it.

Those are extremely expensive, and generally are not used for screening purposes like this.

More expensive? I can see the people in favor of this drug testing law chanting for this higher costing hair follicle test. It might force a few more people to fail to have the funds necessary to receive aid. "Who cares? They made bad choices, why should we pay? Let them eat cake."

That could be true. But as far as hair follicle tests are concerned, it would be cheaper just to deny based on the suspicion that one is a drug user, and then pay the costs of defending the lawsuits!:giggle:

Believe me I know.. Had some one tell me a story about when they did a urine drug test on a male. It came back positive for pregnacy.. :laugh2: They do varity of different test to see if it their urine or not. :)

Majority of the test will come back inconclusive since people drink certain herbs or "flush" out their system before taking the test.

Yep, that right...(using other people's urine to pass a drug test)...I'm very sure that those applicants who are "street smart" can find several ways to defraud a urine test...

And something else to think about.....you must have an "address" in order to receive food stamps/aid....many people, even the homeless, use other people's address to receive their stamps...here in Florida, one person can get up to $200/month of food stamps (maybe more)....if someone allows them to "use their address"...they in turn pay that person $100, and use the other $100 for drugs, same as for aid (not involving food stamps.).....

And of course, those who live in low income housing, not having to pay rent at all and also receive food stamps.....they let several people "move in"...all of them get food stamps...so of course, they're eating Steak every night!

It's a cycle....a never-ending one.....even one woman said to a friend of mine...."I get paid for acting crazy"....so why should I work?"....She received food stamps and SSI/SSDI.....Medicare and all that the government offers, she got it.

Then there are those women who get pregnant, over and over....receive aid for their children, medical and food stamps....When one of their children reaches 18...they in turn apply for food stamps (at the same address)!....

Some people just don't give a damn!.....

I wish be moving ot Ontario because policy illegal strict to apply for process legal
I can't do that

I know at the counseling agency I worked for, with the Federal P&P clients, the Fed's required hair follicle testing only on all of their clients. Our office alone had 25 Fed clients and each one of them was required to have a drug test twice a month. The County P&P clients were supervised urine tests. If it popped positive, then we had to do the follicle test as well. Our office had 437 of those clients and all had once a month drug tests. Only Federally trained personnel were allowed to do the drug tests and the client never got the results.

I agree you correct that is expensive! not easy because waste of money because costs!

Is there any guarantee that drug abusing parents who do receive welfare benefits will spend them on nutritious food for their children? Maybe it would be better for the kids if they got their benefits in the form of actual meals at school and summer programs then having to compete with mom and dad's need to buy street drugs with their need for food.

I'm in favor of both. Welfare for those down on their luck (both those with and without children), as well as free lunches at school and summer programs. But of course, "one square meal a day" isn't exactly enough to provide nutrition for a growing child, so it's not an either-or question.

Yeah. Probably to avoid the chance of a lawsuit for improper dismissal. Now you know what Fed $$ are going for.
