4g

Yeah. I use GPS on my iPhone while walking and ride NYC subway to reach hotel. battery drained quickly. Wow. I should carry extended battery pack for emergency.

Oh that's true. My girlfriend has iphone and used gps to walk searching for the empire state building. all of a sudden, she said, " please page my hubby for me because my iphone is dead". I was like, "huh already?" now I see what you have the same experience. Yea it's a good idea to bring extra bettery.

Thanks radioman, I d like to keep GPS on like you mentioned. I only turned bluetooth off. I left 4G, GPS and WIFI on.

I will worry about the battery life to replace it or not. I don't travel that much. I usually work or home or friends home. SO i tend to recharge them right there. But I will look around the battery that way I can learn more about it.

Thanks!!

For me, I only turn on GPS or wifi on when needed. I don't need it on all the time because it drains the battery quickly. Why do you need the GPS on all the time? Do you get lost easily?

LOL you are right. I don't know why I want GPS on. :hmm: I feel weird to turn GPS off, WIFI off, BLUETOOTH off while I am at work. BLUETOOTH is hardly used for me. I will expertiemnt with GPS and WIFI to see .. I am afraid that no one wont send me messages without wifi??? I would not be worried if i turn GPS off but wifi? :giggle:

You still use message and internet thru 3G without a WIFI. WIFI is just speed up for internet than 3G/4G if you have high speed interent at home or free wifi at cafe.

I never use bluetooth, so it's not really an issue pretty much.

You can use GPS only if you need directions to that location or find closest businesses in the area which is useful. You might want to use wifi if you want to share large files over the phone like bunch of pictures or videos, etc. You still can get messages on 4g network just fine. I have mine to sync emails.

It won't hurt to experiment.

Seq, Yeah. i am so slow with the advanced technology.

I really appreciate all of your inputs here. THANKS!

lost ? no.. I leave min on 24/7 as well my wifey and son. Blip (blackline snitch) saved me and wifey many times. Suppose you have a kid who plays away sports for school and you never been to that school before? No matter how well you check the website where the away games are, you alway seem to end up in wrong spot or school or something changed last minute? I can just blip my son's pager and follow it to correct location. Or I been to that area before and wifey never been there, she can blip me and arrive at my location. You need to have gps on all the time for this to work.
One time my wife car broke down and she said she is on that road but doesnt know where on that road. I can just blip her and know how close or far I am. Very useful.

On the other hand, if you got kids who drive and need to make sure they are not straying off from a said path to a location.... :cool2:

Sounds like invading their privacy. Do your kids run away more after they use that technology? Kids learn from mistakes, not preventing from mistakes. :)

It's ok and no problem! My parents are slow with advanced technology, too. Not really a surprise. :)

You can use navigation over GPS for better battery life. Most google map come with navigation. The navigation use 2G/3G network technology. The GPS is good small town or country road when navigation got weak signal thru 2G/3G.

That's mean I don't bother to use GPS when I am at Chicago so I use navigation.

The navigation works fine for inside the build or subway or something during GPS don't.

invading who's privacy? my kids? REALLY?! they are my kids afterall. and no they dont run away- they are really good kids. It just keeps them on thier toes. There are too many people out there who don't know how to use technology right with good ethics. Just use good judgement and don't use the gps as gospel, only as an aid to a better life.

 That's great to know that they're good kids. I meant, if they're driving somewhere and you're spying on where they are going.

Oh, your wife car broke down in somewhere while you were at home that you can find her??? where can i see BLIP? cooool! If I turn GPS off so no one finds me but they can find where it stops/end or last spot?

Oh In case if my kid wants a new cellphone in 2011 i will make sure that kids ll get either iphone or blackberry. :) but kids wont get it till next year or so. my girl has a virgin mobil for now. She is taking good care of it. She loves my pager but i knew she will love iphone. I rather wait till next year so she won't bother me again for my pager. ha

do u have teenagers driving? doesnt this thought makes you nervous wreck? insurance rates for teenaged drivers scares me that for sure.
