"Conspiracy theories -- such as those surrounding the death of Princess Diana -- are more likely to be believed by people who are willing themselves to conspire, new research at the University of Kent has shown.

Further, the researchers found that participants who were highly Machiavellian -- defined as willing to exploit others for personal gain -- were more likely to indicate willingness to conspire, and as a result, were more likely to believe in conspiracy theories."

Does it take one to know one? New research reveals conspiring conspiracy theorists

That's why I don't like conspiracy theorists - I find them pathological.

Interesting point. :hmm:

Yeah, I don't like them either because such people seem quite manipulative.

It is a strange form of paranoia and disordered thought.

And usually very aggressive if you challenge their thinking or their conclusions.

Oh hell yes! That's why you should NEVER discuss with them - they're defensive and angry if challenged.

I am chuckling at you guys. Come on, now they're saying that if you disagree with the government, you are a conspiracy theorist. Can't anyone see through this???
For your information, I attend monthly Patriot meetings, and I have yet to see any member froth at the mouth and beat each other with their wrist watches.

Maybe your tinfoil visor is in the way of your vision.

j/k :giggle:

sorry . some of us are just plain ole paranoid schizophrenics.
oh the mental label harrassments just never end. we demand political correctness. ha ha just kidding. pppphhhttt.

Agreed. They start throwing ad hominems around, and if they have the opportunity, they will throw bricks! They absolutely hate it when someone comes along and shows the huge holes in their thought patterns.:giggle:

No, I am not saying that at all. Disagreeing with the government simply makes you a free thinker. There is a world of difference between someone who disagrees with the government and can intelligently support their position and a conspiracy theorist.

So to whom were you referring in posts 9, 10, and this post? The conspiracy theory people or the researchers?

Obvious isn't it? I was responding to a quote by another poster about consipiracy theorists. I don't see any ambiguity in that response (#9) or any of my other responses.

Perhaps you would like to explain why you are confused.

I didn't say that I was confused.

Why can't you give simple answers to simple questions without getting defensive?

I just wanted to be sure I was connecting your posts about "they" to the correct antecedent. It's not a big deal.
