Hi Guys,

please not talk about battery, usb, sd, etc..ok?

I hear new ASUS EP121, EP110, Apple iPAD, Android 3.0 about Virtual Memory?

Netbook with SSD or Slate with Windows, it is not good becuase it had virutal memory (pagefile.sys), it is busy read and write on SSD, SSD will lose up to 1,000,000 times write cycles (not hours)

I don't know about iPad or Android don't have virtual memory, it is better save SSD or flash memory long time than Windows, correct or not?

if disable virtual memory (no pagefile.sys), will very slow or not enough more memory

Once disable virtual memory then computer will speed up.

I tried that before and Virtual Memory pointless to me. I don't think iPad use Virtual Memory, it just direct from flash. Android do virtual memory if there is SD slot. I read from somewhere that complained about virtual memory with SD slow an Android down a lot.

Wirelessly posted (Samsung Captivate (i897))

Never heard of the OS using virtual memory on a solid state hard drive. Virtual memory is used when a computer of sort kind does not have enough RAM to run applications so it used the extra memory to page from the drive of any kind. I am not sure, but I believe Mac OS X does use virtual memory for management of application memory, not sure.

"solid state hard drive?" I never heard of that.

ok ok, if I want buy iPad, any Android 3.0 or Netbook/Slate PC?

iPad and Android 3.0 than Netbook/Slate PC for life SSD? becuase Netbok/Slate are very busy write and read, iPAD and Android won't be busy right?, I don't know

RHR abbreviated that word SSD which means solid state hard drive. It basically uses similar technology as RAM chips as hard drive but with no moving parts. Yep, they are expensive since they use chips just like RAM upgrade costs lot per MB compared to standard mechanical hard drives.

it's real, but expensive. Much better than the magnetic hard drives we have with the head to read the spinning disk.

I know what it's mean. I just got SSD 1.8" ZIF 64GB today for my wife's Macbook air, her old HDD 1.8" will go die soon.

SSD mean Solid state drive. There is no SSHD. That' why I never heard of solid state hard drive before.

Oh I was thinking about buying an iMac with a SSD and HD. Gulps. SSD cost 400 bucks for 256 GB. Grrr!

I heard that the Apple will sell iPads 2 with a built-in video camera this spring. It might added SSD, but we don't know. I wonder if it is necessary important for a device to use the virtual memory?

Added? iPad use SSD as Flash since. Just buy 64GB SSD for OS and apps only and buy 1TB HDD for video, pictures, mp3,etc.

No, Wrong!

I know about SSD,

SSD Vs HDD

SSD beat HDD, I know but bad news only one

HDD is long life more 30 year over (2.5 for 30 years, 3.5 for 50~60 years)
SSD is LIMIT! write cycles only between 100,000 and 1,000,000 times WITHOUT Hours
explain: "hello" = 5 length x 8 bytes = 40 bips, 100,000 - 40 = 99,960 downcount to zero then DEAD

I wish "unlimit" I am happy buy it future

Depend, Most 3.5" HDD are pretty longer but 2.5" to 1.8" HDD are pretty short life due heavy carry, light drop, etc. That's why there are popular SSD for 2.5" and 1.8".
