There you go. And people of minority status are not threatened by those they know not to be racist.

However, it would appear that the Repubs complaining in this instance may feel quite threatened by Obama.

Yeah, right. Perhaps they just don't see that your joke is all that important in the scheme of things. I'm sure they have noticed the contradictory nature of your claim that you aren't racist.

I don't think most of us are overt racists. d

I've been called an audist, a sexist, a racist and so on because of my academic elitist attitude. I don't blame them for calling me out on it because if they didn't, I would have never put things into perspective to why there's inequality in our society.

Self honesty is achieved by few. I'd say that academic attitude allows you to be brutally honest and self searching in these matters. And you are correct...without contradiction being pointed out, we don't seek to change our attitudes. We excuse them as being appropriate.
