Good!
This charge should have never happened to begin with. Cops are public servants, therefore civilians have the right to videotape them because the cops are paid by taxpayers. We have a right to know whether or not their performances meets the conduct and guidelines as law enforcement officers.
To the cops themselves, they hate being videotaped because they can't get away with committing a crime while wearing a badge.
Meanwhile, this idiot who videotaped himself riding his motorbike going at excessive speeds on a major highway, he was rightly charged of reckless driving.
But otoh, when a off duty, plains clothed State Trooper pulled up in front of the biker, pulled out his handgun and ordered him to shut off his bike for 5 seconds before he finally identified himself as a State Police Officer. That's a violation of the guidelines. He should have identified himself as a police officer the second he stepped out of his personal vehicle before barking orders to shut the bike off.
The biker thought for 5 seconds he's was being robbed or his bike was in the process of being jacked. Who would think he's an officer in plains clothes, driving a non-uniformed vehicle right there on the spot?
After he posted his video on YouTube, the Officer's conduct with pulling his weapon out and not identifying himself for 5 seconds after getting out of his vehicle went viral, news agencies, bloggers, forums and so on was debating the officer's conduct.
Then, the same officer arrested the biker and charged him with violating the wiretapping laws, he was facing 16 years in prison if the charge followed through.
Something smells "retaliation" to me.
Eventually the Judge's common sense prevailed for the defendant (rarely we see Judges, even Police Officer exercise common sense these days) and threw out the charges against him, except one. The charge of reckless driving stuck. So the biker will have to deal with that.
Wiretap Charges Tossed in Videotaping of Trooper
As mentioned before, the cops hates being videotaped. For good reasons, many Officers have been suspended, fired, & sued for conducts unbecoming of an officer.
Here's some examples...

This cop got fired after he falsely charged him with assaulting an officer, stating he purposely ran into the officer. Then the video comes out on YT showing otherwise.

This College Student was charged for assaulting an officer whereas this video shows otherwise. He was ganged up, severally beaten and kicked.

No way that an officer beat on a person's face to get them to comply. The head may be hard, but still, one punch at a weak spot, you could very well kill the person.
There's tons and tons of videos showing police beatings and so on, with a result of many officers still on the job and very few being fired. Even Jail Officers are beating people up, even teenagers..

This girl was told to take her shoes off, she complies, then the officer didn't like the way she flipped her shoe off and shoved her. He slammed her head against the wall, grabbed her hair and threw her to the floor, banging her head against the floor and viciously handcuffed her, then grabbed her hair to pull her up. As far as I know his trial is still pending. He even asked the Judge to force all websites to remove the videos showing him beating a 15 year old, the Judge denied his request.

This Jail officer turned off the camera and beats her face black and blue and then turns the camera back on to show her being bloodied on the floor.

This paraplegic gets dumped from the wheelchair by a Jail Officer because she refused to believe he's paraplegic from the midsection down. She got fired.
This is an ongoing and widespread problem from Police Officers to Jail Officers abusing the system. I can go on and on about this problem, do your own research and come up with your own conclusion.
Bottom line is this, many officers are asking lawmakers to pass laws to protect their own from being videotaped. Too many are getting caught, fired, suspended and even arrested for abusing the badge. Cams are making officers nervous and they'll do anything to put a stop to it or even retaliate against them in any way, shape and form.
Why so many bad officers out there? The underlying reason is the change of hiring procedures enforced by the Department of Justice in the 1990s....
DOJ forces Police, Firefighters and Municipal Agencies to dumb down employment tests, practice reverse discrimination.
Since the change, more and more corrupted individuals are being sworn in as officers and hired as Jail officers.
This change needs to be reversed. In this day and age, individuals with an high IQ are being turned down when they submit their applications to be an officer. The reason for the turndown? They claim that people who are very smart gets bored with the job and quit. (Yeah, right).
It is in my opinion that the reason they turn down smart people is because they don't want them to wise up on the corrupt conducts while on the job and get them fired and or arrested and jailed.
You may think the problem is small, it's not. Don't just take my word for it, do your own research, it's alot bigger than we think. Let's not forget the many conducts that went unreported or hasn't gotten caught (yet).
