Uh-oh?

A new decision out of the 9th Circuit court of appeals is potentially bad news for GameStop, eBay, gamers and pretty much anyone who buys software. The full decision in Vernor v. Autodesk is available here [PDF], but this column should provide a pretty good summary and analysis of the case, which deals primarily with a legal concept called the "first-sale doctrine." The doctrine, which falls under copyright law, is what allows libraries to lend books, DVDs, CDs, etc., and what allows for the concept of resale.

If that happen, we won't able to trade to get new game. Either we cannot sell our game at eBay.

From what I understand, that probably unfair to development for not make money when game is keep resale again and again.

It's not unfair. They already made the money the first time it was sold. It doesn't make any sense for them to get more money if it's being resold.

I never trust GameStop, they are STILL practicing to sell old games/ open item as NEW GAME. if you dont believe it. Google search is your best friend, there are millions million who complaint against GameStop practicably selling th used games/ open item as NEW GAME with PRICE TAG.

It's not only for GameStop, it affect on other retails that involved on resale. include eBay.

It is only applies to states that who is in 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, even California is one of them.

I'm sure that Supreme Court will hear this case and hopefully reverse the decision.

I agree with you. Back to 1990's, I bought a Metal Gear game pack for PS2 but, I puzzled a cashier acted like so innocent and planted it in bag. I found out it was used game. I pissed off. I won't shopping at GameStop again and, I heard It's going out of business as bankruptcy soon or later. haha

I used to Steam game shop online for purchase any games download.
