This a good one, erm... that deaf people are normal people with the exception of hearing so don't shout or go over the top.
 
If I speak to you and you can't understand, try not to look shocked and ask the person with me to translate. Just ask me to repeat or write it down.
 
Just treat me like the intelligent human being that I am. Just because I am deaf or hard of hearing does not mean that I did not get an education.

Don't scream in my hearing aids to see if they actually work, please.
 
When I tell you how to communicate with me, listen, and communicate with me that way. Don't assume you know better. Don't try to yell at me. Just use the communication method I have just outlined for you.
 
don't go into a rant on how you think you're losing your hearing too or how your best friends wifes sister's daughters dog is deaf
